We have finally arrived in Austria! The journey took much longer than expected, but what does it matter when you have arrived? Now we are in lovely Austria, where we will spend a few days.

Change of flight time ... and hanging out in the lounge
We got up super early in the morning (as so often when flying) and went to Arlanda. There we quickly discovered that our flight had changed departure time, from 8:50 to 13:30 ...
Probably the airline had sent out information about this somehow, but it had not reached us. In fact, this flight has been a bit of a mess. We should have travelled a year ago, but then we got COVID-19 and had to postpone the trip for a year. And yes, now we don't really know what happened ...
The most disappointing thing about not getting away as planned was that we missed a guided tour of Bregenz, which we had been looking forward to. But what do you do at an airport when you have half a day to kill? Well, you book yourself into the lounge ...
We paid around SEK 350 per person for the SAS lounge at Arlanda. Since it was for so many hours, we thought it was worth it. We had both breakfast and lunch in the lounge. In addition, it is quiet and comfortable and there are electrical outlets almost everywhere.
Flights to Zurich
In the end, it was at last time to leave. We were going to Austria, but in this case Zurich, which belongs to Switzerland, is a good place to continue. On the plane, I (Helena) took the opportunity to read a newly purchased suspense novel set in the Swiss Alps. Appropriate, isn't it?
In Zurich we had to pause for a while to wait for a suitable train.
Here we each had a beer and some snacks in the form of bread and olives.
Train journey from Zurich to Bregenz
From Zurich, Switzerland, we then took a train to Bregenz, Austria, which was an easy and comfortable train journey of one hour and 15 minutes. After that we were at last arrived in Austria, where a representative of the local tourist office, with which we cooperate, met us and drove us to the hotel where we will be staying.
Finally arrived in Austria
We really like Austria, so it's great to be here again. The hotel, Hotel Rösle Au in the Bregenzerwald in Vorarlberg, also really offers that lovely relaxed alpine feeling that you want.
We have had time to settle into the cosy room and have a really good dinner in the restaurant.
Beyond the hotel, however, we have not had time to see anything at all yet, as we arrived so late that it was dark. Today we will look around much more, and soon we will also tell you more about our experiences! You can also follow the trip on Instagram, at @freedomtravelnews.

Now you can have some nice days in Austria after a bit of a messy start, but good decision with the lounge.
But what kind of overwintered hippie have you brought with you this time😜?

We have both passed through and stopped several times on our motorhome trips. Salzburg is a favourite. The best part is when we hit "that" curve, or over "that" crest, and the majestic Alps become visible for the first time.

The lounge is always a good place to sit for a long time at an airport. We have the lounge included in our credit card and often use it.
Peter's new hairstyle requires a whole separate post I think? 🙂

You will be pleased to know that you can be reimbursed both for the lounge and also for cash compensation from the airline if they have not announced changes in flight times in advance. Hope you have a great time in the Alps!

Was in Zell-am-See in the summer of 1960. Group trip, which was very nice.
Returned in 1973 with two 11-year-old boys. Salzburg was the favourite city.
Austria is fun. Lots of music, singing and dancing in addition to nature.
beauty. Good food!

I hope you have a great trip, despite the rocky start.
I visited Austria a few years ago. There were a few days in Vienna and a trip to charming Hallstatt.
I really liked Austria and, like you, found travelling by train easy.

Good to read that there was absolutely no one happy with you. Sometimes you have to spoil yourself, especially if you have not been notified of changes in flight times.
Then I sincerely hope that Peter's new hairstyle is temporary and that it is a wig;-)
Having lived in Munich for a while, I have often been to Austria. Salzburg, Ischgl, St Anton, Vienna and some other places.

Absolutely worth paying in the lounge if you are going to be at Arlanda. Because if you look at the price, it is very expensive to eat and buy drinks at Arlanda.
Can recommend a bank card that Nordea has, maybe also other banks (some conditions are included) and with this you pay nothing for lounges either at Arlanda or many places around the world-.
Nice that you have arrived and wish you now nice skiing days. I also like Austria but a little sad that you often have to take a cabin to get up to the slopes. S'älan it is ski in-ski out. But the environment outweighs some of course.
Wishing you great days.
