Bounty Beach is a beautiful beach on the island of Malapascua in the Philippines, and also the most touristy beach on the island. Here you can enjoy sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and diving, or just hang out at one of the many restaurants along the promenade.

Bounty Beach on Malapascua
At the beginning of our stay at Malapascua we stayed in the northern part of the island, which is less touristy. There you will find the northern beach, which is also nice, but where there are only a few accommodation and restaurants.
After a while, we moved to the area around Bounty Beach, where there are many more hotels, restaurants and shops. The beach itself is a long beautiful sandy beach, next to the crystal clear and green shimmering water, where the Philippine boats are bobbing.
Bounty Beach is located on the southern end of Malapascua Island, which is just north of Cebu Island in the Philippines.
Boardwalk on Bounty Beach
Along Bounty Beach is a long promenade. As you stroll along it, you pass restaurants, bars, hotels, dive centres and small spas.
Sun, swimming, snorkelling and diving
The beach is popular for sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. There are also several dive centres that take tourists out in boats for diving. The waters here are said to be fantastic for diving, and Malapascua is famous for seeing thresher sharks here. These sharks have a very distinctive appearance with an extremely long tail fin, but fortunately pose no threat to humans.
Restaurants and chill spots along the beach
If you just want to chill, that's fine too. Along Bounty Beach there are plenty of restaurants and bars. The prices here are of course much higher than in the local small streets a bit from the beach, but it can be worth it sometimes if you want to have your meal with a paradise beach as a background.
We have particularly liked a place with a more relaxed "sacco bags" at the tables. It's cosy to sit here both during the day and at sunset ...
Live music
Occasionally, especially at weekends, there is live music at the beach. It can be a great atmosphere!
Hiltey's Hide Out
Several hotels are nicely located along the promenade at Bounty Beach, but if you want to stay at the beach, you can expect to pay a little more. We are on a long trip and are keen to keep our budget down, so we chose a place that is a little bit above the beach.
Hiltey's Hide Out suits us perfectly. The place is a short walk from the beach and offers clean nice rooms, and a cosy green courtyard.

It looks so lovely with the sea and being able to sit with your feet in the sand under a tree in the shade. What are the air/sea temperatures? I came home from a beautiful winter landscape in Umeå last night.
Good that you have the "office" with you during the trip. Do your friends also have a blog/instagram that they write on?
Enjoy and have a good time.

Yes, it is wonderful to be able to sit with your feet in the sand!!! In the air it is around 27 degrees. I don't know about the water, but it's a pleasant temperature to swim in! And yes, it's good that we can take the office with us. Otherwise we would never have been able to stay away this long. Our friends live a bit differently, they work more at times and travel at times. They Instagram a bit, but only on a more private account, mostly for family and friends. We initially got to know them through their open Instagram account @the.swedish.camel.rider but they don't update there now.

Still looks like paradise, but more "civilised". The weather seems to be absolutely marvellous. Nice to have evening entertainment so close to the hotel.
Which countries do the tourists come from? Are there cars on the island? What is the price of a room, for example? How much does food cost? Are there supermarkets?
12 February 2023 - 17:48
Helena says:
What great questions!!! I don't know any "statistics" about the tourists but we have seen or talked to tourists from Malaysia, China, Germany, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic and Sweden (as far as I can remember at the moment). Also, Filipino tourists come to the island.
There are no cars on the island, only mopeds. If you don't want to walk, you can pay to ride a bit on a moped, behind the moped driver.
The price range is good. Rooms can cost very differently depending on the standard and location you choose. If I remember correctly, we paid about 160 SEK/night for our double room. Food also costs differently depending on whether it is a tourist place by the beach, or simpler places further into the island. At a tourist place by the beach, a pizza costs around 85 SEK. You can also eat a meal for much less, maybe 40 SEK/person.
No, there are no supermarkets. This is a fairly small island and what is available are small and very basic shops. The selection is not that big, but there are small shops selling food, some clothes, pharmacy products, some simple construction stuff (not all of it is for tourists) and some all-inclusive stuff....

Looks really pleasant - I would love to spend time here - but a bit tricky because I will not be in the sun. Here, even the shade in these hot regions is an enemy for me. But I can be happy about what I have experienced so far.
Rejoice with you. And yes, I am jealous.
Enjoy.

You have really travelled to many fantastic places around the world, I understand that you have many nice and special memories! If you want to be careful with the sun, it is of course easier to travel to other places, where the sun and heat are not as strong. Thank you Ditte! Have a great time!

Yes, it is very nice! If I want to relax, I think of the feeling I had when we were lying on sack bags on that particular beach - warm, beautiful, free. Me and the guys tried SUP one afternoon, and almost all the time I kept my balance. And no danger of falling in because the water was warm🙂.

Wonderful memories! 🙂 Then maybe you hung out at the same place we usually hang out at? (I think there is only one place with sack bags, at least now).
