Zakynthos - Flower of the East

Kythera - the birthplace of Aphrodite

The island of Kythera is the birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, according to the poet Hesiod. Kythera is the southernmost member of the Ionian Islands and lies at the entrance to the bay of Lakonikos Kolpos.

This is a stunningly beautiful place filled with valleys ending at the sea, green or barren mountainsides, spring water rushing down the slopes, wonderful beaches, picturesque little villages, local tasty cuisine and an architecture that blends the obvious Venetian influences with the style found in Crete and Mani.
