Marina Point Bay Resort, on the island of Panglao in the Philippines, is a really nice place that offers a wonderfully relaxed environment. We stayed here for a while, and since we liked the place so much, we have to tell you about it.

Marina Point Bay Resort
Marina Point Bay Resort is a hotel with a swimming pool, completed in 2018. Soon after, the pandemic hit and the Danish-owned hotel faced a tough period. Now it is open as usual again, and tourists are slowly returning.

Marina Point Bay Resort is located on the island of Panglao, about eight minutes by moped from the island's most famous beach, Alona Beach. We rented a moped almost every day when we stayed here, which cost us about $100 per day.
Nice room
Our room at Marina Point Bay Resort was very nice, overlooking the garden and pool. Everything was really fresh, with a sense of Scandinavian standard and style. It had everything we needed including well-functioning WiFi, although it was temporarily interrupted a few times when the power went out. Perfect when we needed to work a little extra hard for a few days!

Fantastic pool area
What we particularly liked was the fantastic pool area. We're not usually big fans of pools, when they're crowded and noisy, but we loved this calm and beautiful pool.

Then, of course, we were lucky. We were almost completely alone in the hotel, and had the pool all to ourselves. Before Easter, however, it was pretty much fully booked.

Breakfast and lunch at Marina Point Bay Resort
There is a restaurant at Marina Point Bay Resort, where we had breakfast every day. You can, of course, sit inside or outside, as you wish, and we varied a bit depending on how hungry we were for Asian heat ...

There were a bunch of breakfasts to choose from and we liked the "Farmer's Start" - not least because it contained fried potatoes. We have not eaten potatoes so often during our time in the Philippines ... So we started every morning with fried potatoes, fried eggs, ham, coffee/tea, a glass of juice and fresh fruit. Not bad at all!

We had lunch at the hotel a few times too. Right now, however, they did not serve dinner, which they have not started since the pandemic. In time, when there are more guests regularly, they will probably serve dinner as well.

Since we were almost the only guests, the staff became very personal. Nice of course!

Nice beach
The first thing you're told is to go to Alona Beach, which is the most popular beach on Panglao Island, and you have to take a moped or tricycle. If you're looking for a beach with restaurants and shops, that's fine too. If you just want to take a dip or spend some time by the sea, you can walk down to the closest small beach, Tuba Beach.

This beach offers soft, fine-grained sand, and we liked it a lot. There are no restaurants, no shops (and no annoying jewellers). If you want, you can do as the locals do and bring a packed lunch and spend a few hours here...

What can you see and do in the neighbourhood?
All in all, we enjoyed ourselves very much at Marina Point Bay Resort! So, what can you see and do near the hotel? Well, on the island of Panglao, you can mainly enjoy the beaches and restaurants.
We can recommend the nearby Japanese restaurant Udzuki and the Swedish (!) Zara's Café. You can also check out the Hinagdanan cave and make various excursions around the island. Bohol. Find all our tips for Panglao here.

I would love to live in that place! So beautiful and what a pool area! Proximity to small cute beach and wonderful beds and good food - what a dream life for a few days. Must have been nice with a little 'luxurious' contrast to the tent life and the sea toilet

Of course it's nice! And yes, definitely, nice with a little luxury as a contrast, not least when it's cosy and relaxed like here

That hotel must have been perfect for you as a variation to simple accommodation and unstable networks, especially when you had to work for a while. Then to have the nice place almost for your own use is not wrong ...
It's amazing that you can crave potatoes so much when you've been living on rice and noodles for a long time!

Yes, we liked it very much here! And we joked that we "rented the whole place" so that we would have a pool
And how interesting that you can long for potatoes? I who usually like rice

That hotel was then completely in my taste. I am not a beach/sand person, so I would probably have used the pool frequently. Oh the breakfast was the nose an "English breakfast", only missing the English sausages, and you can actually be without them.
PS and answer: If you've already put a lot of work into the travelogue, I think you should definitely complete the project. I guess a lot is already done/ready, so you should be able to row ashore (not literally) yourself, I think. You are an outstanding writer so - go for it! DS.
