Sikatuna's Mirror of the World

Sikatuna's Mirror of the World had a soft opening in 2018, and has since continued to expand and develop. The park was created by a Norwegian couple, with the aim of showing the world to Filipinos and creating a new destination on the island of Bohol.

The park is located on the southwestern part of the island of Bohol, about 15 kilometres east of Tagbilaran City.

Visiting Sikatuna's Mirror of the World

During the days we stayed in hotels in Tubigon, on the west coast of Bohol, we rented mopeds for several days in a row to explore the island. On one of these days we made a stop at Sikatuna's Mirror of the World and Botanical Garden.

Driving around on a moped in the Philippine countryside, filled with dogs, goats and small local sari sari (neighbourhood) shops, it's hard to believe that a theme park is about to appear. But that's exactly what's happening! Whether you like famous buildings or not, we found the park to be a pretty nice stop on an otherwise long carpet ride.

As well as showcasing famous buildings, you can enjoy beautiful flower beds, rippling water, the Japanese fish koi and all kinds of sculptures of various sizes.

There is still construction going on in the park and it looked like Colosseum was underway. From Asia there were far fewer buildings, but we saw the Handara Gate from Bali and some Chinese arches.

How was the Nordic region represented then? Well, it was via a Viking ship back then ... We asked our followers on Instagram which building from Sweden they would like to see, and we received the following answers:

  • Stockholm City Hall
  • Globes
  • Feskekörka in Gothenburg
  • Smögen bridge
  • Midsummer pole

Lunch at Café Acropolis

We were hungry during our visit, so it was lunch at Café Acropolis. Here we ordered pineapple chicken, which tasted quite ok, but not much more than that. But good with new energy for further moping!
