What a week! When you come home to Sweden after three months abroad, there is a lot to do - and many people you want to meet - all at once. We have been busy, we can say. Happy Friday!
Table of contents
Film number 7 from the Philippines
We have to start by showing film number 7 from the Philippines, from the stunningly gorgeous Coron and glorious Boracay. All the articles and all the films are now gathered on our page on destinations in the Philippines, which you can always find via the menu.
An evening of Greek inspiration
The same day we landed in Stockholm, we were invited to an event about Greece. We cycled there, and even though we were totally jet lagged, it was great fun to meet both partners and travel writer friends, whom we have not seen for a long time.
There was also a lot of inspiration from different regions, which suited us perfectly, as we are planning to travel to Greece this year.
At the end of the evening, some winners were drawn who won a few nights in different hotels in Greece. How did we do? Both Peter's and my (Helena's) business card was drawn in the bowl so we won. twice. We who never win anything at all, unbelievable!
So, now we even have some hotel nights fixed in Greece. We are really looking forward to discovering Greece this year! If you are looking for Greek inspiration already, you can read "All you want is Greece", published in cooperation with Visit Greece.
We have picked up the motorhome
Another thing we did this first week in Sweden is that we picked up the motorhome from the winter storage. Really great to see our FREEDOM again! We really enjoy the motorhome and it will be cosy to travel by motorhome again. First we have to fix a few things, including getting new tyres and solving some things that malfunction. We will report back on this!
Feeding frenzy
After three months in the Philippines, we missed some types of food. One of the first things we bought when we got home was... good cheeses!
We also bought prawns. We have eaten seafood in the Philippines as well, but shrimp does not taste the same in Asia. Wow, so good to indulge in this!
One choice that may seem a bit more odd is that we cooked fish with rice one day. Haven't we had enough of fish and rice? Maybe so, but seabream with rice, cold citrus sauce and lightly cooked broccoli is a favourite. Wow, so good!
Brunch at Sundby Gård
My (Helena's) mum recently celebrated her birthday and my brother invited the family for brunch at Sundby Gård, which is beautifully situated by Lake Orlången in Huddinge. It was very nice and fun to meet the family again!
In addition, there was even more delicious food cravings! The brunch at Sundby Gård is both good and nicely laid out. Here we found even more good cheeses ...
But also things like gravlax trout, prawn slices, poached eggs, Ceasar salad, beetroot with goat's cheese and lots of other goodies. Not to mention sponge cake and rhubarb pie with vanilla sauce... Yum!
Best this week
Best thing this week? It's really nice to be home in Sweden again. We are happy for the freshness of the air, for the sun shining, for the houseboat doing well and for being able to pick up the campervan. And of course it's great to have been able to meet both family and a bunch of writer friends!
Your turn... What has been the best part of your week?
The week ahead
If everything goes as planned, we will soon be travelling with our friends Lennart and Beata to their farmhouse on the island Ring island in Lake Mälaren. Then we will fix the motorhome and eventually plan to roll away with it - initially in Sweden.
Here at FREEDOMtravel you can expect a mix of reports - about the house building on Ringsö, about the motorhome, about Africa (guest writer) and other ...

That's the worst thing about travelling.... the cheeses.... and the coarse bread.

What a lovely, but intense week you had at home! I really understand the desire for cheese, wholemeal bread and vegetables!
So wonderful to bring Freedom home and be able to plan for new trips. We have also had a wonderful week; first I have been in Dalsland on a "girls' meeting" and now we are on our first motorhome meeting with the Laika club.
We wish you a great weekend!
