Varberg's coastal hotel - a place to long to return to

Guest writer: Magdalena

I have been to Varberg on a couple of occasions in the past and visited the city's attractions, such as the cosy city centre and Varberg Fortress.
This time my husband and I travelled to Varberg to enjoy a relaxing spa break at Varberg's Kusthotell after an intense period of life.

The hotel

The building where Varbergs Kusthotell has existed for over 30 years dates from 1902. The building has undergone various renovations and extensions over the years, but the hotel has managed to preserve its charming atmosphere.

Varbergs Kusthotell has the sea as its neighbour and the Varberg The centre is only 2.5 km away. The hotel is surrounded by sandy beaches and beautiful nature, which is a bonus for your stay. Waking up and starting the day with a walk along the beach is delightful.

The hotel has elegant and comfortable rooms and suites, all decorated in a modern, homely and luxurious style. Several rooms have a sea view. So nice to be able to pull back the curtains and look out at the sea first thing in the morning.

Thalasso-spa

Varbergs Kusthotell is the only spa in Sweden to have a Thalasso spa. Thalasso spa is a form of spa treatment that focuses on using the resources of the sea to promote health, relaxation and well-being. The term 'thalasso' comes from the Greek language and means 'sea'. Thalasso spas use, for example, sea water and seaweed to provide therapeutic effects on the body.

The spa area has a seawater pool where the water is heated to 32 degrees and some spa treatments use seaweed, salt and mud.

Spa på Varbergs kusthotell

We are already there at 7am on the second day, which means we are the first to arrive. It feels really luxurious to have the spa area to ourselves for a while before anyone else gets there. Even though we were not alone the day before and after 7.30 am on the second day, there are surprisingly few people there, which is very nice.

The spa area has different types of showers, saunas and pools. There are also a couple of different relaxation areas and foot baths. A little bit outside the hotel, by the sea, is the cold bath house. I take my first dip of the year in the sea and then warm up in the sauna inside the cold bath house. After that I am awake. 😊

If you want a spa treatment, a spa workshop or a sauna ritual, Varberg's coastal hotel also offers this. You can read more about this at hotel website.

The restaurant

At the hotel's restaurant we have a three-course dinner and breakfast the next day. Here the restaurant guests are offered taste experiences with a focus on fresh and local ingredients. We can choose between three starters, three main courses and three desserts. My husband and I choose partly different dishes. Of course, we take the opportunity to taste each other and we can see that everything we eat is really good.

The restaurant manages to give us a good overall experience where good food, cosy atmosphere and good service are combined.

After getting up early (which I don't usually do on days off), going for a walk, visiting the spa and then taking a dip in the sea, it was very good to have breakfast.

See you soon

Varbergs Kusthotell offers a luxurious and relaxing experience by the sea. It is a perfect destination for anyone looking for soothing days with a focus on well-being.

To treat yourself to a spa holiday at Varbergs Kusthotell is to give yourself a nice present. The hotel room, the surroundings, the spa and the food. Everything is good! I walked around for a day and just enjoyed myself. When we leave Varberg Coastal Hotel filled with energy, we not only feel that we want to return, we also feel that we want to stay.
