Viking Line and Gotlandsbolaget start co-operation
Viking Line and Gotlandsbolaget are forming a joint company to develop and offer cruises with M/S Birka Stockholm between Stockholm and Gotland.Mariehamn and Stockholm-Mariehamn-Visby. Gotlandsbolaget acquired M/S Birka Stockholm in March 2023 for EUR 38 million and has now agreed to sell 50 per cent of the vessel to Viking Line for EUR 19 million.
Mathias Dahlgren opens Seafood Gastro at the Grand Hôtel
On 11 August, Mathias Dahlgren, the star chef behind Matbaren and Rutabaga, opened the doors to the new Seafood Gastro restaurant concept at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm. Stockholm. The tasting menu consists of aquatic ingredients that live in, by or on the water. Seafood Gastro uses primarily wild ingredients from Scandinavia, supplemented by sourced marine ingredients of the highest quality that are not found naturally in our neighbourhood.
Record attendance at Malmö Museum in July
The queue for Malmö Museum has been long on the bridge over the moat at Malmöhus Castle this summer. In July, the Malmö museum had a total of 91 800 visitors, which is 42 per cent more visitors than in the same month last year. Visitor numbers have also increased in the first half of 2023.

Car holidays are a popular form of travel all year round. Swedes prefer to travel with their partner (67%), and many also want to travel with children (40%) or friends (34%). This is according to the Goodyear Car Holiday Report. The report also shows what Swedes prefer to do during their car holiday:

Packed programme at Elmia Caravan Motorhome 2023
Elmia Husvagn Husbil 2023 will be held on 6-10 September, and the programme looks set to be packed. One of the new features is Destination Square, which is organised in collaboration with FREEDOMtravel and involves exhibitors and lecturers focusing on travel destinations gathering in the F-hall/large tent. There will also be a live podcast, food inspiration with Campingköket and a film screening with Campingbio. You can see the full programme (which is continuously updated) at the fair's website.
