First Camp Arcus - Luleå is a nice family campsite with a lovely location on the Lule River, not far from the centre of Luleå. We stayed here for one day, when we had time for both sun and rain at the beautiful riverside, and a chat with the destination manager.

First Camp Arcus - Luleå
First Camp Arcus - Luleå is a premium campsite, which in First Camp's classification system means a good location, a wide range of activities and good facilities. In this case, there are fine beaches, water parks, a high-altitude track, restaurants and the possibility of various excursions.
We visited the campsite in connection with looking around in Luleå, during our Gulf of Bothnia trip. Since we collaborate with First Camp, around occasionally visiting, discovering and writing about their campsites, we also took the time to look around properly at the entire campsite. Good thing we had electric bikes with us, because the area is quite large!
First Camp Arcus - Luleå is nicely located on the Lule River, about 9 kilometres from the centre of Luleå.
Camping at First Camp Arcus - Luelå
At First Camp Arcus - Luleå there are plenty of places, whether you bring your own motorhome, caravan or tent, or if you want to rent a cabin. The service centres have all the services you need. Some of the service houses are newly renovated, and others will be renovated.
The campsite is open all year round, although the pools, restaurants and other facilities are only open during the summer season. In winter, you can book adventurous excursions with external operators, such as snowshoeing, dog sledding or ice fishing.
We chose one of the free spots on the shore, and here we stood very nicely, with a lovely view of the water.
Cottages come in different models and we were told that they renovate some every year, which means that there are both newly renovated cottages and cottages awaiting renovation.
We got to check out a cottage with a nice location by the water, which happened to be free. In here it was very nice we must say!
Perhaps the best part was the small patio right by the river.
Fine sandy beaches
At First Camp Arcus - Luleå there are very nice sandy beaches. The weather was sunny when we arrived and many people were swimming on the large and most popular beach.
We liked the other one, Niporna, with a steep slope down to the river and very beautiful nature.
Arcusbadet
There is also a water park at First Camp Arcus - Luleå, called Arcusbadet. The pool is popular with both campers and visitors from Luleå and the surrounding area, and if you stay at the campsite you get a discount.
We understand that the pool is popular with families with children and young people. There are three different pools, slides, a wave machine, a children's pool and some other activities, as well as a barbecue and a kiosk.
High ropes course and other activities
At the campsite there is also a high-altitude course that looked fantastic. It is in itself nothing for me (Helena) who is afraid of heights, but on the other hand I get a little dizzy just looking up at those who climb around up there ...
Anyway, we have to say we particularly liked the creative passage that included a canoe and paddles...
In addition to the high-altitude course, the campsite offers a wide range of other activities for young and old, such as canoe and kayak hire, bike hire, outdoor gym, exercise, jumping pillow, children's club and playground.
Café and restaurant
The campsite has a restaurant during the summer season, Kajen Bar Bistroand a café, Kolaren Café. We were very close to settling on the latter, which looked super charming with its parasols, but we had to continue our exploratory tour ...
At least the restaurant serves things like hamburgers and pizza, while the café offers salads, summer plates, sourdough sandwiches and pastries.
Out on the edge
Last but not least, on our tour around the campsite, we went out on the cape that is located at the campsite, but actually outside the campsite area. Here you are met by very beautiful nature! Here you also see some piles in the water and around the beaches, which are historical memories, which for cultural-historical reasons must not be moved.
A chat with the destination manager
We also had a little chat with the destination manager, Charlotta Nilsson, which was very nice. It is noticeable that Charlotta has a very great commitment to the campsite and this year she was a little disappointed - in the weather. "Campers like to have sunshine, and unfortunately it has been a slightly rainy summer. But Charlotta is looking forward to next summer when more service houses will have been refreshed, when the miniature golf will finally be in place and ... when the sun will shine!
