Monet's Garden
Monet's Garden is an art experience where you can experience Claude Monet's art in a whole new way. The exhibition is currently on display in Stockholm, at the Maritime Museum, and will later be shown in Malmö.
Claude Monet
Claude Monet was born in 1840 in Paris. He is considered one of the pioneers of impressionism and his paintings of water lilies are images that come back to us, still in our time.
What we didn't know was that his wife Camille (known from the painting "Woman in Green Dress") died at the age of 32 and that he developed cataracts, which affected his vision very much.
Monet's Garden in Stockholm
Monet's Garden is currently on display until 21 January next to the Maritime Museum in Stockholm. During the months of March - May 2024, it will be displayed at Malmömässan in Malmö. We visited the exhibition, together with our friends Lennart and Beata, during the weekend.
Visiting Monet's Garden - good to know
If you are planning to visit Monet's Garden, it is best to buy a ticket online before your visit. In order to ensure that there are always enough people on the premises, tickets are purchased for a specific day and time. Visiting the exhibition then takes about 90 minutes.
The first part of Monet's Garden tells the story of the artist's life and work in a more traditional way. You can also familiarise yourself with his garden and try out various interactive elements. Only then can you enter the main part of the exhibition.
Visiting Monet's Garden - an experience
In the main hall, there is a digital show about the life and work of Claude Monet. The show is displayed on the walls, and on the floor, and you can choose to stand, sit on chairs or the floor, or semi-lie on soft cushions. We recommend sitting or semi-recumbent, to relax and get into the experience.
You are overwhelmed by a mixture of art, technology and narrative. Some wander around, but most seem to get caught up in the moment.
Some paintings have been seen before, others not. Regardless, everything comes to life: the paintings, Monet's life, the challenges of a poor artist ...
We found Monet's Garden both interesting and delicious. Don't miss it if you have the opportunity!

Oh so cool. I have seen several of Monet's watercolour paintings and love them. I am going to Stockholm tomorrow and with a lot of luck I will have enough energy to visit the exhibition.

So delicious. Exhibitions presented like that are getting closer. Saw something similar at Fotografiska last summer. Really cool.

What a cool exhibition! We like Monet and then we went to see "Monet with friends" at Kalmar Castle last spring. It looks like it is done a bit in the same way. Unfortunately, we have probably managed to fill our day when we go to Stockholm in December so we probably won't have time to visit the exhibition.
