Finnlines offers night-time shortcut to Lübeck's Christmas markets
This year Lübeckwhich has a Christmas market tradition since 1648, to eleven different themed Christmas markets. Finnline's timetable between Malmö and Travemünde allow motorists and pedestrians to travel in the evening from Malmö and wake up in Travemünde the next morning. From Travemünde harbour, it takes half an hour to reach Lübeck by car, train or bus. Choose to stay a night or travel back the same evening. Finnlines offers 2-3 daily departures in both directions. Most of the Christmas markets start around 27 November and many run until around 30 December, while some end a little earlier.
Viking Line is now setting up the Swedish National Culinary Team's Christmas table.
Every year, around 200,000 travellers eat Viking Line's Christmas buffet. The 75 dishes signed by the Swedish National Culinary Team are largely created from ingredients from the shipping company's neighbourhood, i.e. Sweden, Finland and Estonia, and as many as 21 dishes on the Christmas table are vegetarian. The Christmas table is served 16 November - 26 December 2023 on the vessels Viking Glory, Viking Grace, Gabriella and XPRS. On Viking Cinderella, the Christmas buffet period runs from 20 November to 26 December 2023.
The hit show From Aladdin to Elsa will be staged at the Oscar Theatre.
From Aladdin to Elsa is a spectacular musical journey through the world of cartoons and animated films. The colourful show, which has previously been a hit on stages around the country, is now being staged at the Oscar Theatre in Stockholm, opening on 27 December. The musical features super hits from beloved films such as Frozen, The Lion King, The Jungle Book, Aladdin, Encanto, Dumb Me and many more.
Norwegian launches 40 new routes from the Nordic region
Norwegian is developing its route network with more attractive destinations. In total, the company is launching 40 new routes from the Nordic region to destinations in Europe for the 2024 summer season, and nine new routes from Sweden:
- From Stockholm Arlanda: Bari (Italy) and Billund (Denmark)
- From Stockholm Skavsta: Palma/Mallorca (Spain)
- From Göteborg Landvetter: London (UK), Nice (France), Palma/Mallorca (Spain) and Pristina (Kosovo).
- From Växjö Småland: Alicante (Spain) and Palma/Mallorca (Spain)
Sweden Rock doubles its camping
The major music festival Sweden Rock in Norje in Blekinge cooperates with ten other campsites, but since last summer it also has its own campsite. By next summer, the campsite will more than double in size - from this year's 350 pitches to 750. "Staying in a caravan or motorhome has become a big part of the festival experience. It is not uncommon for our visitors to keep the same site, with the same neighbours, year after year," says Hannes Emeus, Marketing Manager at Sweden Rock.
Hotels.com launches travel guide of Scandinavian 'doubles'
Three quarters of Swedes have booked or would book a double to famous destinations. Hotels.com is therefore launching the travel guide Dupes of Scandi. The travel guide presents Scandinavian destinations that are doubles of famous destinations from around the world. The guide aims to inspire travellers to try new destinations which in some cases can be cheaper, less congested and even just around the corner. Doppelganger:

Recharge has inaugurated the Nordic region's largest electric car charging park in Mariestad.
Recharge has inaugurated the largest electric car charging park in the Nordic region at a McDonald's restaurant in Sweden. Mariestad. With its 16 super fast chargers, the charging park is also one of McDonald's most powerful globally. The new super fast chargers provide 200kW of maximum charging power, which means that cars like the Volkswagen ID.4, Polestar 2 or Audi Etron can be charged to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.

PiNCAMP, ADAC's camping portal with over 12,000 campsites in 40 countries, has analysed its statistics for 2023 and identified the 10 most popular campsites in Sweden. The facility that tops the list is Daftö Resort in Strömstad followed by Destination Apelviken in Varberg and First Camp Sibbarb-Malmö. The 10 most popular campsites in Sweden:

Reflection of the week
The "doppelganger" thing is kind of fun. Now, while we think these destinations may be worth discovering in their own right anyway, perhaps this could be a way of noticing great places closer to home.

Recharge seems to be good at shoehorning in concepts...
"The largest charging park in the Nordic region" with 16 chargers... Tesla, for example, has several locations with 40 chargers and most Tesla charging points probably have more than 16 chargers.
Maybe it's the biggest recharges?
