The year 2023 is almost over and 2024 is approaching. We present 12 destinations to dream about - one for each month. Many are destinations we've visited ourselves and would recommend or want to see more of.

January: Sri Lanka
An exciting country in Asia, Sri Lanka is a great place to explore in winter. Here you can discover everything from sandy beaches and surfing to historic temples and wildlife. When we visited Sri Lanka we did a round trip, which was very interesting. Highly recommended!
February: South Africa
We haven't visited South Africa yet, but it's on our bucket list and in our calendar. We are travelling to South Africa at the end of January, and will discover everything from safaris to wines. At the link below you will find a report, written by our guest writer Anna Nilsson Spets, but there will be more soon!
March: Philippines
The Philippines is a great country to experience, and March is a great month to do so. There are beautiful beaches, exciting excursions and friendly people. We recommend a visit to the dramatic island of Palawan.
April: Italy
Who doesn't want to meet spring in Italy? There are so many beautiful and interesting places in this country. We like magical Rome, cosy Chioggia and beautiful Lago di Braies, among others. One place we haven't visited yet, but which is on our bucket list, is the ancient city of Pompeii.
May: Malta
Malta is a small but stunning Mediterranean country. There are lots of historical sights, but also locally produced food and opportunities for adventure. If you're looking for something a little quieter, and not too hot, May might be a good time to visit.
June: Skåne
There are plenty of great places in our own country, and Skåne is one of them. If you want to avoid the crowds at campsites and hotels, you can choose to travel around in June, before it gets too crowded. Skåne offers everything from historical sights and picturesque towns to nature and locally produced food.
July: Finland
Are you, like us, travelling by motorhome and looking for a quieter destination for the busy month of July? We can hot recommend Finland. We have followed the whole coast, from Helsinki up to Tornio, and it was very nice. Lovely nature, beautiful wooden towns and interesting historical sights!
August: Iceland
Iceland is perhaps the most magical of our Nordic neighbours. I (Helena) have spent a lot of time here, and we have also travelled here together. This country is so much more than volcanoes. You can discover geysers, go horseback riding or try modern Icelandic cuisine.
September: Croatia
Croatia remains one of our favourite countries in southern Europe. July and August can be a little too hot, but September brings a nice period of more comfortable temperatures. Here you can discover beautiful coasts, picturesque towns, historical sights and stunning natural areas.
October: Tanzania
October can be a great time for a real adventure: Tanzania. Many people travel here to experience a real African safari. You can also head out to the popular holiday island of Zanzibar, which offers magically beautiful beaches, along with spice safaris and exotic animals.
November: Tunisia
When the autumn darkness comes, many of us long for warmer latitudes. Tunisia is now, when there are both direct flights from Stockholm and charter, a good and easy alternative. A wonderful Mediterranean country with sun, swimming, culture and history!
December: Germany
If you love a good Christmas market, don't miss Germany in December. Here you go all in When it comes to Christmas, you'll find great Christmas markets in Lübeck, Hamburg, Berlin and Nuremberg, to name just a few.

I agree about Croatia which I like much better than Greece, May is also a good month there. And the further south you get the better.Zanzibar is for me over-advertised, I was there many years ago and have seen how they build up with resorts. My tip is of course Bosnia. And I myself dream of Mali and Sudan.

Croatia is fantastic! We would like to see more of Bosnia! (Have only made a quick trip to Mostar.) Mali and Sudan sound like interesting destinations!

I still have Antarctica as a dream destination and would love to once again travel around South America by small cruise ship, especially in Patagonia.
Even Alaska and travelling there by ship is appealing. Yes, there are other destinations I would love to travel to, including South Africa and travelling there for at least a month.

South America is a white spot for us, but sounds exciting! In any case, this year it will be South Africa for us, and we will be travelling around for quite a long time so we will have time to see a lot. Happy New Year!

Wonderful destinations you recommend! I have wanted to go to South Africa for a long time. But Tanzania was fantastic too.
We are planning to travel to East Germany in August, with the motorhome. I'm a little worried about the crowds. But if you adjust to it, it should not be worse 🙂 And the east side may not be as popular as the middle and west, I think.
