Christmas is approaching! We can't say we're making herring pickles and wrapping presents all day long, but we're still preparing for the upcoming holidays. Happy Friday!

Preparing for Christmas and New Year
Christmas does not have the same meaning for us anymore, as it might have had when we were children, or when we had children living at home. We have minimised the celebrations quite a bit and enjoy the peace that comes with Christmas (less pressure on the mailbox!) more than the celebration itself. Still, we do appreciate some things about Christmas. It's nice with all the lights around, and it's nice to see family and friends!
The last week has been spent on some preparations - planning meals and some shopping for food, clothes and Christmas presents. Among other things, we have been to Solna city centre, where we took the opportunity to photograph the metro station, designed by Karl-Olov Björk and Anders Åberg. Isn't it delicious?
A nice Christmas present from the Croatian Tourist Board
A few small Christmas greetings have arrived in the mailbox during the week, and we have also been in town to receive a Christmas gift from the Croatian Tourist Board, with whom we have cooperated for many years. Last year we actually celebrated Christmas in Split, which was very nice!
So, what was in the packet? Well, olive oil, dessert wine, honey with nuts and salt. A very nice Christmas present, which we humbly thank you for!
Doctor's appointment at last
On a daily basis, we are pretty bad at "taking care" of ourselves. We often postpone doctor's appointments, dentist's appointments and hairdresser's appointments, because there isn't enough time and because we can't book them. Now I (Helena) have finally been to the hairdresser and Peter has even more finally been to the doctor.
He has had pain in his legs for some time and spent a month waiting for an appointment at the medical centre. It was certainly a long wait, but when he finally got an appointment, it was filled with lots of different samples and tests. They think it might be 'window gazing', but it's still under investigation.
Best this week
The best thing about this week? It is probably that we finally got the time and opportunity to take care of ourselves, in the form of doctor's appointments and other things. You can't just work and create. Sometimes you have to focus on your own well-being too! Your turn ... What has been the best part of your week?

Wishing you a Merry Christmas! And yes, it is important to take care of yourself. Worth spending time on. Health and well-being are incredibly important.
We are in Tenerife and have been here since 12 December. Sun,+25, good food and drink, comfortable adult hotel and a whole lot of exercise has been so enjoyable. The back is so much better. Daily massage, bubble bath and swimming is pure wellness.
Stay safe and take care of yourselves.

Wishing you also a very Merry Christmas and an exciting 2024.
Of course you should take care of yourself, at least sometimes. I think you have it again afterwards. I had never heard of window viewer's disease. I really hope that Peter gets help and that a thorough investigation is carried out.
PS. That goulash soup looked really good:-) DS.

It's good that you've been able to do a bit of work. It is needed from time to time.
The best part of the week is that I was able to tick off a lot of sourdoughs at work before going on holiday.
