FREEDOMtravel has over 4,000 travel stories, and every day we publish a new article on destinations or other travel-related topics. We have reviewed the statistics for 2023, and can now reveal the most popular destinations to read about during the year.

Most popular destinations on FREEDOMtravel
Launched 15 years ago, FREEDOMtravel features around 4,600 stories on destinations and other travel-related topics and publishes a new article every day, 365 days a year. So, what is most read?
What is read is of course influenced by what is published, but since many of the readers google the site, reading is also largely determined by people's search behaviour.
To find out what was most read on FREEDOMtravel in 2023, we looked at the top 100 most read stories of the year, according to Google Analytics, and categorised them into countries and destinations.
Most popular destinations in Sweden
Some major cities are included in the top list of popular travel destinations in Sweden, such as Stockholm and Helsingborg. Otherwise, it is mainly charming small towns that rank high on the list. At the very top is Gränna, a town that was also awarded the "Destination of the Year Sweden" 2023 prize by FREEDOMtravel during the "Elmia Husvagn Husbil" trade fair this year.
Most popular destinations outside Sweden
When it comes to travelling outside Sweden, European destinations are the most popular. Germany is the undisputed leader, with many popular articles ranging from picturesque small towns to city guides and castles. Finland's position on the list can be related to the fact that in the summer of 2023 the editorial team went on a two-month motorhome trip in Finland, during which time they discovered and wrote about many gems.
Some reflections on the most popular destinations
Are we surprised by the places and destinations that top the lists? Well, maybe not really ... We know that destinations in Sweden and Europe - where many people have the opportunity to travel - are always googled and read the most. Then you could wonder if more exotic destinations that we wrote a lot about during the year, such as the Philippines, could have made it onto the list, but no, that's not the case.
What are your favourite travel destinations to read about?
Do the lists of destinations reflect the type of destinations you prefer to read about? Which destinations would you like to read about in the coming year?

Interesting to read. I make a list like this every year, but 2023 is not ready yet.
But after Sweden, Italy is always the uncontested 2nd place. Portugal, Switzerland and the Faroe Islands are usually high as well. We'll see how it goes this year. 😊

Always fun with lists and I think you make nice compilations. I'm sure many people appreciate them. Yeah, me too.
But for myself, I am now moderately interested in reading on a blog about what to do and see in different destinations. But environments, restaurant tips, personal experiences, suggestions for good accommodation, transport and how to get around (to and from airports, train connections, etc.) suit me better. We rarely drive a car to our destinations.I always buy a good guidebook that we take with us when we go out, ER blog I often read but sometimes with greater interest and sometimes with less. when it comes to motorhome and what is associated with it, I read quickly. .

Lists and compilations are always fun. This list was probably not so surprising. Perhaps a little surprising that Hungary is included but not the Philippines.
