We have been in South Africa for a long time, almost seven weeks. But eventually it's time to wrap things up. The last two weeks of the trip were spent in Cape Town in South Africa and at the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Happy Friday!
Table of contents
Cape Town in South Africa
Cape Town is perhaps one of the most commonly visited places in Europe. South Africa to visit as a tourist. For our part, we came here only at the end of the trip, and then together with Peter's son Robin and his wife Alexandra. They had done a lot of research before the visit, which was great.
We really had a fantastic stay and ticked off everything from colourful houses and wine train in Franschhoek to penguins in Simon's Town and restaurants with tasting menus. We promise to tell you more about this soon!
Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe
To end the whole trip, we chose, together with Robin and Alexandra, to fly to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. The traps are actually on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia and you can visit both sides if you want. We only had a few days and chose to stay in Zimbabwe for the whole visit.
Here we stayed in a fantastic natural hotel, overlooking a waterhole where the wild animals stop to drink, such as elephants and buffalo. In addition, the area was full of animals such as markats, mongooses and warthogs. A very special experience! And yes, more detailed reports will come of course!
Against Sweden again!
After a few days in Zimbabwe, it was time to head back to Sweden. Robin and Alexandra were keen to fly with Qatar Airways, so we travelled to the Victoria Falls. Johannesburg - Doha - Stockholm. A long journey of course, but in the meantime we could enjoy writing and going through photos. And try to sleep of course, as much as possible on board an aircraft.
Best this week
Best this week? Everything! Apart from the fact that we've been a bit scratchy at times (that's what happens when you're travelling), we've had a fantastic time. Both Cape Town and Victoria Falls qualify as some of our most memorable destinations.
Your turn... What has your week been like, and what can you highlight as positive?
The week ahead
By the time you read this, we will probably be back home in Sweden. We will probably be quite tired, but there will be no rest for us.
Almost immediately we will get involved in the fair "Stockholm Caravan Motorhome"which will be held at Stockholmsmässan in Älvsjö on 14-17 March. Maybe we will see you? We give a lecture on Friday + Saturday at 15:00, about "Bottniska Viken runt med husbilen" in Allt om husbilen's stand. Immediately after the fair, we are going on a cruise to Turku. Full roll then!
Here at FREEDOMtravel you can expect more reports on South Africa. These will be interspersed with articles by guest writers, updates from the fair and more. Happy Friday!

Welcome home! What an incredible journey you have made and how wonderful to have plenty of time on such a long journey. Then you are home and at full speed again. This year there will be no motorhome fair in Stockholm but tickets Wednesday-Sunday are booked at Elmia, will be fun.
Here we have had a good week with a small trip to beautiful Tallinn and then we are spring equipping the motorhome so now we just look forward despite the threat of snow tomorrow....,

Thank you very much! Glad you are coming to Elmia! Then we will see you there, if not before! Great that you were in Tallinn too! It was probably the first time you made a cruise in that direction, right? Nice weekend!

Yes it was the first time we cruised from Stockholm but hopefully not the last. Tallinn gave more taste but unfortunately we do not go to any motorhome trip in that direction this summer.

Welcome home! You have had a fantastic trip and experienced so many beautiful and exotic things. What memories. Looking forward to reading more about your adventures in South Africa.
I understand that Peter's son Robin wanted to travel home on Qatar Airways. That airline does a lot of advertising on the BBC. The luxury of having your own "room" on the aircraft, the best food in the world etc. is irresistible I would say.
Good luck at the Älvsjö Fair. Hope you are not too jetlagged;-)

Thank you very much!!! And yes, Qatar Airways is good! Although for our part it was only Economy Class though, so no own "rooms" 😉 But you go past the more luxurious part when you board and it certainly looks luxurious! Food and service are good even in economy class!

What a fantastic journey you seem to have been on! It has been a great pleasure to "follow along"! Looking forward to more reports.
There was no Älvsjö fair for us. However, we have booked our first Elima fair, area 1 on Sunday. Just as well to go all in 🙂 We look forward to nice days.

It looked very beautiful so I became more interested in getting down to South Africa, not just to collect coins and try beer of course 😉 ... there was a lot more to do 🙂 ....
