We now have travelling companions here in South Africa. Peter's son Robin and his wife Alexandra have flown here from Sweden, and we met up at the airport in Cape Town. After that we flew together to George. Happy Friday!!!

Continuing to travel along the coast of South Africa

We (Peter and Helena) have followed the South African coastline in a westerly direction, stopping at places such as Knysna, Mossel Bay and Hermanusbefore turning up towards the Stellenbosch wine region. Reports on these places will come as soon as we can!

We left the car, which we had borrowed from our friends' daughter, directly to the daughter who is studying in Stellenbosch. Then we took a taxi to the airport in Cape Town. Time for a new part of the journey!

Our last night 'on our own' was spent at the Zevenwacht Wine Estate.

We have been joined in South Africa by Robin and Alexandra.

Our journey in South Africa has now entered a new phase, you could say. We have (finally!) been joined by Robin and Alexandra. They flew from Sweden to Cape Town, and we met them at Cape Town airport. So fantastic fun! From there we continued together by plane to the city of George in South Africa.

We flew on a relatively small plane, from Airlink, and the journey took just under an hour. Then we arrived in George!

A week in George - with pre-wedding festivities

George is a city located along the "Garden Route" in the southern part of the South Africa. This city has always been a target for Robin and Alexandra, as they are invited to a wedding here (and now we are invited too!). Their friends, a Swedish-African couple, are getting married.

A whole week before the wedding, activities are organised so that wedding guests can get to know each other. Really fun! We live in a house, which we have rented together with Robin and Alexandra, and another Swedish couple who are friends of the bride and groom.

What about the activities? On the first day, a tournament was organised in the British sport "bowl" (not unlike boules). Great fun! Then there was a day of gin making, a day of safari and a day of ... crayfish disc! Fun!

We get instructions on how to play the sport "bowls".

Best this week

Best thing this week? It is of course that we have been visited by Robin and Alexandra here in South Africa, and that we will continue travelling with them. Very fun! It's also fun that we got to attend this wedding event, on a corner.

Your turn ... what can you highlight as positive from your week, big or small?

The week ahead

During the coming week, we will first hang out in George, where we will attend the wedding, and then we will travel to Cape Town together with Robin and Alexandra. Here at FREEDOMtravel there will still be a lot about South Africa, mixed with travel news, guest articles and Wednesday musings. As usual, you can also follow our adventures, a little more "here and now" on Instagram at @freedomtravelnews.
