Our motorhome is now home from winter storage! It is a special feeling when spring is here and you can roll the motorhome out of the garage. Imagine how many adventures and how much motorhome fun you have ahead of you!
It was time to take the motorhome out of winter storage.
This week we picked up our motorhome FREEDOM from winter storage. Since we only have one car (the camper) and since only one of us (Peter) has a driving licence, we have to use public transport when it is time to pick up the camper.
It's not a big problem really, even though it's usually a long drive, but this time the motorhome was without electricity, and we were a bit worried about whether we could start the batteries. The garage wrote "Bring jumper cables!" in the email, but that doesn't help when you don't have a car to connect them to ...
To be on the safe side, we bought a battery starter at Clas Ohlson, which we charged in advance. And that was lucky! Without it, we had not got FREEDOM up and running.
Now our beloved motorhome was running, and we could drive home to our "home" car park.
Time for cleaning and fixing
It's time to clean and fix! Many people clean their motorhome before they set it up for winter storage, which is wise and good in every way, but that's not always the case for us. Sometimes it's just too much, and that's how it turns out ... In other words, the motorhome we picked up was really dirty, and we expect it to take a while to clean.
All the batteries are discharged, so we use our generator to charge the batteries.
At the same time there is cleaning. We clean, vacuum and wipe surfaces. We also take in textiles for washing and all kinds of cans and boxes for washing.
We have been at it for two days already, and we are far from finished. The washing machine in the houseboat goes in one go because all the motorhome-themed textiles will be clean and fresh.
We also have some ideas for things to fix. We have a window that needs replacing and we want to fix our curtains in front of the beds - so that they are easier to pull back and forth. Maybe there will be some other news in the interior too ...!
We want to enjoy the motorhome ourselves, and we will also have company in the motorhome for two weeks this summer. Our South African friends are coming to experience Sweden by campervan. It will be exciting, right?
If you have a motorhome, have you taken it out of winter storage? Have you been out on your first trip?

Hello there!
Yes, it is home and we have made a short trip, more to come. Our packing list has escaped from the computer this winter, so "stole" some inspiration from your list. Hope you have nice trips with the car, something exciting in the eye? We will probably do our "usual" southern Europe tour at the end of the summer, but many tours before that, including Stockholm and Springsteen Week.
Now into the garden. All the best, mates!

Hello! Wonderful! And yes, our list is there to "steal" from 😉 Southern Europe sounds wonderful, and Springsteen too!!!! It will probably be a lot of Sweden for us. We are focused on Dalarna. Preferably Härjedalen and Värmland too, but we probably do not have time for everything we think. Then our South African friends are coming, and then there's the Elmia fair ...! But it will be great to get out on the road again. Have fun!!!

If you're keen on a bit of campervan fun, we'll be at Långholmen 15-19/6. 🥳🤩😎.

Sounds nice!!! Maybe a little doubtful that we are in Stockholm then, but you never know with plans ... We can have some contact during the summer and we'll see if we can beam together somewhere! 🙂

We are also cleaning the motorhome in full swing now. We have had small residents🐹 during the winter despite the mouse cream, peppermint oil and vinegar.
I also take the opportunity to do some painting. But eventually it will be the first trip!

The mice are tricky ... We bought a mouse deterrent, but we couldn't use it because we were without electricity. We've also had mice visiting. Hopefully only in a kitchen drawer (torn towel and mouse poo in a drawer), don't want to find any more traces ...

So you got out in the end! 😉
We used Spanish winter storage this year. No problems, otherwise there is always something that makes a mess.
The motorhome is now parked in a car park, accessible only by commuter train and bus.
Good thing you have a car park near the houseboat. Then it will be off! 😊

Great that it worked well! Yes, it becomes an extra obstacle if the motorhome is far away. Now that we have it close, it will be easy to get away!!!

We have just come home from the premiere tour, so cosy! Then we drove it down to Jönköping to fix the heat and some warranty issues. Not enough misery because on the way there we got a real stone shot so now there will be a new window next week. Then it should be enough with misery because we imagine a trip down to Skåne and lush beech forests.
You will surely have a nice motorhome summer because both Dalarna and Småland are wonderful motorhome destinations. It is also fun to show summer Sweden to your friends from South Africa.

So wonderful with the premiere trip!!! Sad with misery, but it is so typical that it comes at once!!! Hope you will avoid more now ...!

You did the right thing! I mean why clean twice when you can only do one round. It's stupid to do double the cleaning before and after winter storage. Okay then, the bed linen I had probably taken in if you say so. Oh mice visiting - no yuck!!!! It's just to complain about the pitch;-)
It will be fun to follow you during the summer, especially in late summer when your South African friends come to visit. Where there's room in the heart, there's room in the arse, they say, both if they're going to sleep in your houseboat and in the campervan. It will not be as luxurious as you had it in South Africa, on the other hand, they liked camping too.
But it's a long way to go...

Mice are quite common unfortunately. If you are lucky, they don't destroy anything important, but one year they gnawed on a cable, and then they can cause a lot of trouble ....
And yes, we also think it will be exciting when Michel and Henri arrive this summer! It is quite true that it will not be as luxurious (yes, we think a few days in the houseboat too), but as we got to know them, we think it will be fine. Then it is important to plan a good route, both so that there are nice things to see and experience, and so that there is a "reasonable" pace. We have to spend some time planning! 😉

I can understand that it is a crazy wonderful feeling when the motorhome has been "tucked away" for many months and then can be taken out. As you know, we have been driving all winter and can not imagine anything else at the moment. 🙂
