Mallorca is an island that many people have visited and to which I have returned several times. When I googled when we Swedes started travelling there, it was already in the 1950s that the first charter went here, and my great-grandmother was one of those who visited Mallorca in the 50s.
As a child, I was here with my family on several occasions, when we stayed in one of the coastal towns with nice shallow beaches and crystal clear water.
I have been here a few times with my husband and children, exploring different parts of the island. On one occasion many years ago when we were in the small artists' village of Deia for the day, I felt that I would like to stay there if we were to return to Mallorca.
When this trip was planned and the daughter would celebrate her 20th birthday in Palma, we found a lovely house about 35 min from Palma, not in Deia but in Mancor De La Vall.
We were here at the end of October and had some days with very nice summer weather, when we could hang out here by the pool before or after we had been on a beach or on a tour of the island.
And it turned out that although we had never heard of Mancor De La Vall, it was at least as charming as Deia. Or even better, without a lot of tourists.
I love to wander around by myself in the morning all by myself and just discover new cities, which I also did here. The village is not that big, it has about 1500 inhabitants and there is a church, two small squares with some cafes and restaurant and a lot of nice houses and alleys.
One evening the whole family was out walking in the village. Several in the family have football as a hobby and we of course stopped and watched the match when "our" home team played and of course it was them we cheered on along with the others from the village. This is one reason why we like to rent a house or apartment as you get a little insight into everyday life and if you are lucky to get a little closer to the people in the village where you live.
The whole family was very much in agreement that we enjoyed the house and the village, so much so that we started talking about whether we are a family that would like to own a home in another country and return to if we had the financial means to do so. We realised that we probably weren't, but IF we had been, we could definitely imagine living here in small but incredibly charming Mancor De La Vall.

What a lovely post with nice pictures. Thank you very much!
Majorca is a fantastic island that has a lot of everything,. Was here for the first time as a 10-year-old and it was 1959. At that time we lived in Palma and tourism was in its infancy. We had Spanish friends at home in Solna who were from Mallorca so the trips there during the 60s and 90s were many. In Manacor we have been some, but not lived here. But in Deia and up in Cabo Formentor and some other places we have spent time.
Reading your post was like coming back. And with plenty of money, would have loved to have had an accommodation on the island.

Thank you Ditte🙏🏼. Sounds like you also have many wonderful memories of beautiful Mallis. Wow, the first time in 1959, so exciting and being able to compare the development.
Mm, living in Mallorca for a while sounds lovely😍
