Where Swedes are travelling this summer
80 days before departure, prices start to fall, and then go down more and more the closer you get. This is according to recent statistics from Sistaminuten.se. But there is a caveat. The single biggest factor influencing whether there will be a rush for travel or not is the weather. The cheapest times to travel are before schools end and after they start again. May, October and November are cheap travel months. Top 10 travel destinations this summer:
More people visit SalzburgerLand - SAS opens direct route
Swedes have taken an interest in Austria's SalzburgerLand in the summer, with hiking, cycling and relaxation. Between the summer season of 2022 and 2023, the number of Swedish visitors increased by 7.6%. SAS is now launching a new direct route between Copenhagen and Salzburg. Already last summer Snälltåget launched direct trains from Malmö to Austria and this year, departures from Malmö will continue every Saturday at 13:07, with arrival in Salzburg the following day.
Art is now presented in ICEHOTEL 35
Icehotel turns 35 this winter. The international design competition is now over, and out of 114 applications from 40 countries, the jury has selected 27 artists from 13 countries. The creation of the seasonal part of the hotel will begin as soon as the snow has settled. The artists will then gather in Jukkasjärvi, as is tradition, to work with the construction team, ice production, art support and a lighting team to create and design the 3,000 square metre seasonal hotel made entirely of snow and ice.

New exhibition at Sofiero Castle
In the 2024 season, visitors to Sofiero can go on adventures in the enchanted landscapes of the imagination, with Astrid Lindgren's works as their companions. The brand new exhibition "Astrid Lindgren - Landscape of the Imagination" opens in Sofiero on 5 June and runs until 28 September. In 2020, Johan Egerkrans was commissioned to illustrate the new edition of "Mio min Mio". Several of his fantastic pictures are on display in the castle. In addition to the exhibition in the castle, visitors can take part in activities on the same theme in the castle park.
Reflection of the week
Nice to see a list of popular road trips! It's no surprise that Norway and northern Sweden are popular. We really want to give a shout out to Finland, which is not only beautiful but also a little less crowded!
