Shops and restaurants in Glasriket

When travelling by motorhome, we don't always try out many restaurants, as we often eat in the motorhome. Above all, it is mostly dinner in the motorhome, but it is more often that it is a lunch, or maybe a coffee, out somewhere. Now we have also travelled around the Glasriket two times, so now we have had time to try a few places to eat. And yes, there are many cosy cafés and restaurants in Glasriket!

1st Kosta: Don Camillo

In Kosta there are several different eateries to choose from, but a favourite for us is the pizzeria Don Camillo. Here is cosy, the pizza is supergod and it's also affordable.

When we were here, at lunch, you could have a pizza buffet if you wanted. Perfect if you want to taste several varieties, and eat as much as you want. Since we try to hold back a little on the amounts, we chose to share a tuna pizza instead. Very tasty!

Address: Stora Vägen 61, Kosta

2. food: Kosta Delicatessen and Gin Bar

If you like good food and delicacies, it is also nice to take a look at Kosta Delicatessen and the gin bar located here. In the delicatessen you can buy goodies or sit down for a nice meal, which we did last time we were in Kosta. Very good as we remember it! In addition, there is a delicious gin bar here, with more than 400 varieties of gin.

Address: Holsteins Väg 7, Kosta

3. Lenhovda: TADAH Coffee Roastery

Do you like coffee? Or maybe tea? If so must you just swing by TADAH Coffee Roastery in Lenhovda. This place is run by an incredibly lovely couple, originally from Germany, but who have now found their new home in Swedish Småland.

Tadah Kafferosteri

Here you can try, or buy, many different types of coffee, roasted in their own roastery. New products at the moment include a coffee made from Australian beans and "Glasrikets kaffe".

At TADAH Kafferosteri you can also visit Sweden's smallest coffee museum and have coffee in a lovely retro environment. A visit here is highly recommended!

4. measuring rod: Målerås Bistro

Målerås is one of the important destinations in Glasriket, with Målerås Glasbruk, Hantverksbutiken and Målerås Läder. You can also stop for lunch at Målerås Bistro. At first we thought the environment was a bit dull, but the place then surprised us with exciting products and fantastically nice entrepreneurs behind the counter.

Our lunch tasted excellent and it was also fun to try both the slightly less sweet drink "forest soda", flavoured with spruce shoots, and the specially composed cake "Kristallkaka". The name of the cake relates to the Glass Kingdom's glass and the white chocolate on top is supposed to illustrate glass. Is it good? Yes, very!

5. Nybro: Café Hos Oss

If you ask us about our best dining experience in Glasriket, the answer is Café Hos Oss in Nybro. Here you are greeted by a very pleasant environment, whether you choose to sit indoors or outdoors.

We were already initially impressed by the salad table at lunch. Very good and fresh salads!

Then it got even better when we got our chosen lunch dishes. Peter ordered the fish soup, which he was very happy with, and I (Helena) ordered the vegetarian lunch dish. Very nice flavour combinations, and perfectly cooked vegetables. The best vegetarian meal I have had in a long time!

Address: Pukebergarnas väg 24, Nybro

6. Emmaboda: Pastry shop Fenix

The last time we were in Glasriket, a few years ago, we visited Pastry shop Fenix in Emmaboda. We had good cakes here, but that's not what we remember first, but the environment. This place offers a fantastic retro style, with rooms in 50s, 60s or 70s style. This place is highly recommended!

Address: Kyrkgatan 3, Emmaboda

7. Lake Långa: Mundekulla

Last but not least, we would like to mention Mundekulla, where there are conference facilities, hotel, caravan park, restaurant and café. We had a very good experience here, but would like to point out that the restaurant and café are only open occasionally.

We tested the Mundekulla caravan park, which is free of charge and fantastic if you don't need service. The next day we got to try Mundekulla's picnic basket. Very good with an awesome sourdough sandwich and a lovely overnight oats.

We also got to see the fascinating forest garden, where they grow according to "agroforestry principles". Among other things, edible perennials are grown here, that is, recurring vegetables that you can eat, and which are served in the restaurant.

Until now, Mundekulla has focused on groups in the form of retreats and conferences. Now it is also opening up to individual guests, but opening hours in the restaurant and café are still limited.
