Skärså fishing village
Skärså fishing village offers an environment with small red wooden houses and lovely views of the water. Here we made a stop, with lunch, which was fantastically nice.
Skärså is located on the coast of Hälsingland, about 11 kilometres north of Söderhamn.
Skärså fishing village - a fantastic setting
First and foremost, Skärså fishing village offers a marvellous setting. The red cottages and boathouses are picturesquely situated by the water, surrounded by piers and boats.
It's cosy just to stroll around the houses, and it's hard to stop taking pictures. This is truly a Swedish idyll!
Visiting Skärså fishing village
You can visit Skärså fishing village by car, or by boat, and you can expect a really nice visit. If you come here in high season, you can also expect some things to be open, such as restaurants, shops and museums.
Restaurant Albertina
One of the highlights of Skärså is undoubtedly Restaurant Albertina. As we are travelling for a long time, we limit our 'eating out', and the vast majority of meals are eaten in the motorhome. But some restaurants you really want to try, and Restaurant Albertina was one of them!
So lots of good things on the menu! Mostly fish and seafood, but also other things.
We chose mussels with French fries. Wow, so good! The bread served with it was a bit boring, but the mussels, sauce and aioli were ... yummy! Very good!
We also tried a Skärså Camp, which is actually produced at the restaurant. We liked this one a lot! In addition, the environment is fantastic and the service was super good!
Visiting Skärså - fish shop, general store and museum
There are also plenty of other things to do when you visit Skärså. If you like fish, you should of course visit the fish shop/smokery. The shop is open daily during the peak summer period, and at certain other times you can shop on your own, from the fridge, and pay by swish.
Also don't miss the cosy Glassmaker's general store! Here you can buy both ice cream and delicacies, and also get brochures and info about the area. A must-stop when you are in Skärså!
Opposite Restaurant Albertina, you will also find a craft shop and museum, all in one. In the shop you will find crafts made of ceramics, wood and textiles.
The museum displays items related to shipping and archipelago life.
And there's even more to see and do. During the high season there is sometimes a glass blower on site. It is also possible to book a boat taxi, and if you are a group, you can book a trip to the island of Rönnskär. Sometimes, mainly during the high season, it may also be possible to hire a kayak.
Visiting Skärså - where can you stay or park your motorhome?
Do you want to stay in Skärså overnight? Skärså nature campsite has pitches for motorhomes and caravans, and you can also rent a cabin. We also saw a bunch of motorhomes in the car park in Skärså, and since we didn't see any prohibition sign, we guess that it is common to spend the night here.
More to see and do in the neighbourhood
Not far from Skärså fishing village you will find Söderhamn, where you will find cafés and an aviation museum, as well as Stenö Havsbad & Camping. North of Skärså you can discover Hudiksvall with the beautiful Hornslandet peninsula and the fishing village of Kuggören.

So nice everywhere and been there and on the next you will visit. In Hornslandet, the husband got a tick that he did not discover, became borrelia and treatment. It was "full fledged", big. He survived but nothing he was prepared to get. Have been so much by the sea and lakes and are found in all places but sometimes you miss. So then you know😉

Yes, these regions are marvellous! Not least these charming fishing villages! Hornslandet is also very nice, but huh with the tick and borrelia, not fun! We will try to pay attention as best we can!
