A fantastic dinner at Axmar Brygga, on the Gävle coast, on the border between Gästrikland and Hälsingland! We have visited Axmar Brygga before, with their nice campsite and lovely restaurant, and this is a place we like to return to. Now it was time again!

Axmar Brygga - caravan park and seaside inn
Axmar Brygga Havskrog describes itself as "a unique fish restaurant with conference and banqueting facilities overlooking the pristine archipelago of the Baltic Sea", and that's very true. In addition, there is the important fact that they have a large and nice caravan park, with all the services you need.
Axmar Brygga Havskrog and caravan park is located between Gävle and Söderhamn, about 10 minutes from the E4 motorway.
Real motorway service area at Axmar Brygga
The Axmar Brygga car park has 32 pitches with electricity and 11 without. It's a great place to be, close to the water, and you have access to all the services you need: toilets and showers, emptying of latrine and grey water, rubbish collection and fresh water refilling.
The price at present (2024) is SEK 245/day with electricity or SEK 195/day without electricity. There are also "extra pitches" a little further away, without electricity, for SEK 99/day. You can always take a chance on drop-in, but it is of course safer to book in advance, especially if you want electricity. You can book a pitch here.
Real motorway service area lounge
At Axmar Brygga there is also a "car park lounge"! But, how nice is that?
At the far end of the restaurant at Axmar Brygga, by the fireplace, coffee and cakes are available during the restaurant's opening hours. Motorhome guests, as well as boat guests, are welcome!
Great dinner at Axmar Brygga - again!
Of course, you can come just to hang out at the campsite, but one of the best reasons to come here is to have a fantastic dinner at Axmar Brygga Havskrog.
The pub is located in a beautiful stone building, with a fantastic view of the sea.
Axmar Brygga Havskrog is particularly good at seafood, although there are also other things on the menu. We decided to go for their 3-course menu, which includes two different choices for each dish.
For starters, you can, at the moment, choose either the immensely popular Axmar tube or The pier's herring platter. Since we chose Axmarröran last time (really good!) and since we also like herring, we chose herring this time. Then it was also appropriate to try Axmar Pilsner.
Really good, both the beer and the herring platter!
For the main course, we chose oven-baked cod loin with prawns, which was served with an absolutely magically good sauce. To finish, we made a repeat of the dessert we ate last time, that is, ice cream with warm cloudberry jam. To summarise: an absolutely fantastic dinner at Axmar Brygga. We fell asleep so happy at the car park!
Experiences around Axmar Brygga
There are also plenty of other experiences around Axmar Brygga! When you book a motorhome pitch, you can, for example, borrow a rowing boat at no extra cost, and row out into the archipelago.
Other experiences include, for example, Axmar Mill, English Park, farm shop, art and various nature experiences. In other words, there are many reasons to make a stop here!

What a different building for a restaurant. And the food - drool, drool I just say:-) Really luxurious considering that it is a "campsite", especially the lounge and not least the range of the restaurant.

The food is really, really good! I think perhaps you can think of Axmar Brygga as a restaurant in the first place, which then built and developed a nice caravan park. Many people come here to eat at the restaurant, even without a motorhome. 🙂

I think it is time to organise the car park as it is very uneven and it quickly becomes too close between the cars.
We go there quite often and wish to avoid the blocks to drive up on.
