The green bunker in Hamburg has opened

The most impressive construction project in Hamburg since the opening of the Elbe Philharmonic Hall finally opened its doors to the public on 5 July. The gigantic World War II bunker, in the heart of St. Pauli, is now ready after years of renovation. In addition to the already opened REVERBB by Hard Rock Hotel, exciting gastronomy and culture, the Hamburg Bunker offers a public roof garden at a height of 58 metres, a green walkway, a unique panoramic view and a memorial to the victims of the Second World War.

Croatia celebrates new Michelin stars

Croatia is now proud to announce that it has one restaurant with two Michelin stars and ten restaurants with one Michelin star, the world's most prestigious gastronomic honour. Agli Amici in Rovinj now has two stars, and Dubravkin put in Zagreb received one star. Restaurants Pelegrini (Šibenik), 360º (Dubrovnik), Monte (Rovinj), Noel (Zagreb), Boškinac (Novalja), LD Restaurant (Korčula), Nebo (Rijeka), Alfred Keller (Mali Lošinj) and Korak (Jastrebarsko) kept their stars.

New car park in Karlskrona

There is now a new caravan park in Karlskrona. The car park is located at the Blomlöfs smokehouse on Saltö. There are 10 gravel pitches at the quayside. Electricity, toilet and shower will be ready in the autumn. In the meantime, you can use the toilet at the restaurant. The address is Fiskhamnen 1 and the price is SEK 215/day.

New walking festival in Umeå in October

Singles hike, After Hajk, secret forest concert and crafts walk. These are some of the activities that visitors to the Hajka walking festival can experience 4-6 October in Umeå region. An event filled with activities that promote outdoor recreation, nature tourism and community spirit.

More food news in Halland 2024

I Halland there are fine Michelin-starred restaurants, cosy eateries and top-class coffee shops. This year there are also several food novelties:

  • Feldts on Skolberget in Oskarström, run by pastry chef, artist and entrepreneur My Feldt, opened on 13-14 July.
  • Restaurant Fyr in Tylösand is a novelty from chef Jacob Homström, known from the two-star Gastrologik in Stockholm.
  • Bageri Säf & MOOB pizza in Falkenberg both offer goodies in the Summer Tower on Skrea beach during the summer.
  • Vattnet Halmstad is a new restaurant on the waterfront in Halmstad, offering both coffee and food made from locally produced ingredients.
  • Savoury experiences in Halland are various gastronomic adventures, such as the 'Train and Forest' and the 'Bike & Bite' cycling adventure.
  • Heagård outside Halmstad is now not only a café, but also offers beer at the newly opened Timjan's Brewhouse.
  • Hooken by Joels Brygga in Varberg can be found during the summer in the old warehouse in the harbour, with smoke grills and craft drinks.

How many Swedes have had sex outdoors

Summer is here - the time of year when many Swedes enjoy a well-deserved holiday. Now, a new survey from LELO, a design brand for intimate lifestyle products, reveals that Swedes also like to have sex outside the bedroom in summer. Overall, older age groups have had the most time to explore nature. 40% of people aged 65-79 have indulged in a tent, compared to 15% of 18-29 year olds. Swedes' most favourite places:

  1. In the forest/in a car (39 %)
  2. In a tent (31 %)
  3. On the beach (29 %)
  4. On a boat/in the sea/in a swimming pool (18 %)
  5. At work (12 %)

Reflection of the week

We spotted this bunker in Hamburg when we visited the city two years ago. It wasn't open to the public then, but it's great that this special building has now found a use!
