Located in the south of Denmark, Legoland Billund Resort is one of the world's top destinations for families with children. Instead of being child-free, it's child-filled - the whole area is designed for toddlers aged 2-12 and their parents.

The landscape is magical and full of beautiful scenery, long sandy beaches, cosy little towns and beautiful architecture. For children, this really is the dream holiday, everything the little ones could wish for in one place. It's also full of adventure, and you can read about some of the highlights below!

I, who usually blogs at LinizTravelWe spent two days in Legoland in June with my eight-year-old son, and managed to discover most of the park. To our great surprise, there were not as many people or long queues as we had thought before we travelled down.

At Legoland Billund you can meet the Ninjas in their cool 3D ride, get your legs shaking with fear in Ghost - The Haunted House, explore the area from above in Legotop or just look at world-famous buildings and places in cosy Miniland. It's all here.

It is exciting and fun for both adults and children. Even though it's a children's favourite, it's definitely an extraordinary experience to visit this entertainment destination. If you are also a Lego lover, it is probably a dream trip beyond the ordinary.

They offer a variety of fun experiences. To name just a few of the latest innovations, you can build and drive with Ferrari. How about experiencing the world's first full-size Ferrari Monza SP1 built by Lego. Or why not build your own Ferrari car that can then be digitalised and driven on the track. The little ones can build their Ferrari using Lego Duplo.

Miniland since 1968

Several different themed parts of the Legoland theme park have many fun themed parts in the park. Miniland is where the park's adventures began in 1968. In Miniland everything is built with 20 million bricks.

Here you can experience the big wide world in miniature with exciting environments, capitals, small towns and world-famous buildings, including five of the world's tallest buildings with the Burj Khalifa at 5.5 metres as the tallest building.

Children can take their own driving licence

Taking your driving licence here is very popular. At the Traffic School, anyone between the ages of 6 and 13 can learn to drive in traffic. You can fill up your car at the petrol pumps or wash it in the car wash. Of course, you also get your very own Legoland driving licence as proof that you now know more about traffic than most. Good to know is that it costs a penny and is not included in the entrance price.

News 2024

This year's big news at LEGOLAND® in Billund, Denmark, is the world's first combination of LEGO® DUPLO® and Greta Pig™. The new area will be 1,500 square metres in size. The unexpected combination of DUPLO and Greta Pig will offer both an activity area for younger children at LEGOLAND this summer and a brand new LEGO DUPLO series with the happy grunting little pig.

Arctic Basecamp

Arctic Basecamp is also new for 2024. Here you can build together with the other explorers in the interactive headquarters and prepare for the next polar expedition inside the ice cave.

LEGO® NINJAGO® World

Our favourite is undoubtedly LEGO® NINJAGO® World. Here we put our ninja skills to the test. And trying to get through Lloyd's Laser Maze? The son is strong and agile enough for Cole's Rock Climb, but it's not for me.

The most fun of all is certainly NINJAGO® The Ride. Here, you ride through a Ninjago 3D world, boxing with your hands and fighting them for points. We do it again and again, to keep improving our scores. It really is so much fun. I'm not kidding if we rode it ten times in a row, because it was so much fun.

KNIGHTS' KINGDOM

KNIGHTS' KINGDOM was actually another favourite. Here you could experience a world of brave knights, beautiful princesses and wild Vikings. The Dragon ride that was here was really fun. It was also a ride that we could alternate and ride over and over again, as there were many seats in the Dragon.

LEGOLAND - an adventure land for families with children

Billund has become an adventure land for families with children. A hot tip is to start walking as far into the park as possible, when there are the fewest people there and the least queues, and then walk back. If you're lucky, you'll avoid the worst queues in the rides. Then, of course, you get stuck where the kids think it's most fun and may be there for a longer time.

LEGOLAND, LEGO House and Lalandia are all within walking distance, and the new WOW Park is just a stone's throw away. Denmark's second largest airport, Billund Airport, is also located here.

Food and drink in the park

There was a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, hot dog stands and ice cream parlours. Both days we actually had lunch at the buffet restaurant in Miniland. It was easy and convenient that we could only eat what we liked from there and both drinks and ice cream were included in the price. There was everything from different kinds of salads, meat, vegetarian to pizza and a children's buffet. Coffee was also included in the price.

If you prefer to bring your own food and drink, there are many nice places for picnics with benches in lush cosy gardens.

Buy two days pay for one day

Some days they have that you can pay entrance for one day but you can go two days in Legoland. I highly recommend two days, so you don't have to rush around the park. There are really many different parts that you want to get through and then all the rides, which can sometimes have a wait.

Stay at Slottshotellet

Castle Hotel Near the amusement park, an enchanted castle towers up. It's home to the King and Queen of Legoland, and why not be their guest? There are 142 adventurous rooms, and you can choose where you want to stay - in the princess's royal chambers, the knight's cool living room or the wizard's magical observatory?

Whatever you choose, you are the guest of honour of the adventure. Few Swedes have had time to visit the new castle hotel, which opened at the start of the pandemic.

Journey to

We flew with SAS direct flight from Arlanda to Billund. Then we walked about 30 minutes from the airport to the hotel, which is right next to Legoland Billund.
