Great caravan parks in Sweden

In this list we present some nice campsites in Sweden, which we visited during 2024. We started the summer by travelling through Gästrikland, towards Hälsingland and Dalarna. Then we were visited by friends from South Africa, and we took them on a motorhome trip south and west, from Stockholm. During these trips, we visited many campsites, and we have now selected ten places that we liked a little extra.

So, how do you judge what are "nice caravan parks in Sweden"? It is of course a matter of taste! We appreciate places that have good services and/or offer beautiful views. Here are ten great caravan parks in Sweden that we visited this year, and that we liked. In no particular order.

1. Stocka guest harbour (Hälsingland)

Stocka Gästhamn, which is located north of Hudiksvall, offers a fantastic environment by the coast, at least if you manage to snag one of the places closest to the water. Here we enjoyed ourselves like fish in water! A tip might be to book on the website in advance, to find a free place with a good location.

  • Service: Electricity, toilets and showers, fresh water, latrine emptying, dishwashing facilities and washing machine.
  • Price: 240/day (2024)

2. Guest place Gränna (Småland)

We have stayed in Gränna many times, but this was the first time we tried "Gästplats Gränna". This site costs a little more, but in return you get extremely nice service houses and a green fake lawn (!) that you can roll out outside the motorhome. Excellent location for visiting Gränna with all the polar pigs and Grenna Museum with an exhibition about André's polar expedition.

  • Service: Electricity, toilets and showers, fresh water, latrine emptying, grey water emptying, dishwashing facilities and washing machine.
  • Price: 365 SEK/day (2024)

3. Axmar Brygga (Gästrikland)

Axmar Jetty, on the coast north of Gävle, is something very special. There are really nice pitches for motorhomes, with good service. In addition, there are Axmar Brygga Havskrog, which offers both fantastic views and great food, as well as a "motorhome lounge" where you can hang out. We've been here before, and we'd love to return!

  • Service: Electricity, toilets and showers, fresh water, latrine emptying, grey water emptying, dishwashing facilities and washing machine.
  • Price: 245/day with electricity or 195/day without electricity. Extra places further away without electricity 99 SEK/day (2024)

4. Gesunda village cabin (Dalarna)

Gesunda bystuga is located just south of Mora, with a fantastic view of Siljan. We got a very nice and personal welcome when we arrived. A good place for a stop during round Siljan we thought.

  • Service: Electricity in some of the sites, toilets and showers and wifi.
  • Price: 300/day with electricity and 250/day with electricity (summer 2024). According to the website, the price is 50 SEK higher during the winter season.

5. Vinströmmen, Voxnabruk (Hälsingland)

At Vinströmmen, in Hälsingland, there is an absolutely magical place. It's not an established site, but word has spread and motorhomes and other camping vehicles are finding their way here. Here you can experience the forest, the water and the tranquillity. We really loved this place!

  • Service: Outhouse.
  • Price: Free (2024)

6. Västerås guest harbour (Västmanland)

Västerås guest harbour is a place we have visited several times before, and it hasn't gotten any worse. You stand with a really nice view of the water (and sometimes with entertaining views of the wakeboarders!). The place also has an excellent location for visiting nice Västerås.

  • Service: Electricity, toilets and showers, sauna, latrine, dishwashing facilities and washing machine.
  • Price: 275/day with electricity or 245/day without electricity (2024).

7. Mackmyra Golf in Gävle (Gästrikland)

Mackmyra Golf, located in Valbo just outside Gävle, has a small number of pitches for motorhomes. This is a fairly basic site, but it is very green and relaxed, right next to the golf course and Mackmyra mill. We enjoyed ourselves here for two nights!

  • Service: Electricity, toilets and showers.
  • Price: 300/day (2024)

8. Urö farm car park, Hudiksvall (Hälsingland)

If we had ranked this list, Urö farm, outside Hudiksvall, maybe got the number 1 spot. What an incredibly lovely place! Lots of places for motorhomes, nice view of the water, excellent service and even a small unmanned ice cream parlour. Simply a gem!

  • Service: Electricity, toilets and showers, fresh water, latrine drainage, grey water drainage and washing-up facilities.
  • Price: 200/day (2024)

9. Kosta Lodge (Småland)

Kosta Lodge is a very nice and affordable campsite with good service. Since we were last here, the site has been expanded and many of the pitches have nice wooden decks. At a short distance are Kosta with glass and art, and moreover, you are in Kingdom of glass, with glassblowers, moose and nature experiences.

  • Service: Electricity, toilets and showers, fresh water, latrine drainage, grey water drainage and washing-up facilities.
  • Price: SEK 285/day (2024)

10. Trosa guest harbour (Södermanland)

Trosa guest harbour has been a favourite for many years. Although you stand on fairly simple asphalt car parks, you have really good service in the harbour house. You are also perfectly located for walking into charming Trosa. We were a little shocked by the price though ... during the high season they have gone all out!

  • Service: Electricity, toilets and showers, fresh water, latrine drainage, grey water drainage and washing-up facilities.
  • Price: 485/day with electricity in high season and 330/day with electricity in low season. Lower price if you book without electricity (2024)
