Marimekko-furnished cabins on Silja Symphony
Travellers on Silja Symphony can now enjoy a special design experience on board. Twelve exclusive cabins have been redesigned with interiors from the iconic Finnish brand Marimekko, known for its distinctive patterns and colours. This new experience on Silja Symphony follows the success of its sister ship Silja Serenade, where Marimekko-furnished cabins were launched back in 2023. In addition to the beautiful cabins, travellers can also buy Marimekko products on board.

Ghost walks and Egyptian mummies at Kalmar Castle
In autumn, spooky things happen inside Kalmar Castle. The walk Silenced and buried is based on Kalmar Castle's previous ghost walks, but contains several new elements. The ghost walk is given three times a night during the period 18 October-23 November.
Next year, Kalmar Castle will host a unique exhibition on the mummies of ancient Egypt and the belief in eternal life. The artefacts come from the Egyptian Museum in Florence - and this is the first time they have been shown in Sweden. The exhibition Egyptian mummies - a journey to immortality will be on display from 18 April to 2 November 2025.

Hotel vibe increasingly important to Swedes
Today, the fashion industry is driven by various 'core' trends that often take off on social media, especially TikTok. These micro trends describe different styles and subcultures, which have also become important when it comes to travelling. According to a Hotels.com survey, as many as 9 out of 10 Swedish travellers consider the vibe of a hotel to be important when booking. More than three out of five Swedes would even pay more to stay in a hotel with their preferred vibe. Here Hotels.com lists beautiful hotels in different styles:
- Coquette – Villa Cora in Florence combines femininity, elegance and romance in a luxurious and intimate setting.
- Quiet Luxury – Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles breathes Quiet Luxury aesthetics thanks to its understated elegance.
- Mob Wife – Hotel du Petit Moulin in Paris exemplifies the Mob Wife aesthetic thanks to its bold and glamorous design.
- Cottagecore – Castello di Casole in Tuscany embodies the Cottagecore aesthetic thanks to its rustic charm.
- Grunge – The Hoxton in Amsterdam reflects the Grunge aesthetic with industrial elements and raw materials.
Reflection of the week
The vibe of the hotel? We agree that the atmosphere, mood and decor of a hotel is important for a person to feel comfortable, but we don't have a good grasp of different "hotel styles" and we can often be happy with fairly simple hotels, as long as they are reasonably cosy. How is it for you?

Ditte says:
Clearly like smaller hotels that are personal and may have a "boutique feel". Good location, in relation to what I want to see and experience, preferably balcony / terrace . (Tricky in big cities) And of course the comfort, service and that it is clean and a quiet location are important. If I pay out of my own cash, I will not choose one of the hotels you list.

Christina says:
If it tastes good, it costs, I think, and nowadays when most things cost more, I wonder if it's worth the money to go to the hotels with specific vibes?
