This is according to new statistics from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.

Reflection of the week
We travelled a lot in Sweden this summer and it certainly felt like summer tourism was intense! It's a bit surprising that some regions actually reduced their tourism... Weather? Too little investment? Something else?

Ditte says:
It's great that Stockholm won the category of Europe's friendliest city. And yes, Stockholm is amazing in so many ways.
Also fun that Spain takes four places in terms of popular destination in the autumn holidays. Can think that London is very expensive. Was dying last autumn holiday and everything was really expensive.
Fun with Calabria. We travelled here a few years ago with Solresor and it was successful. Now Ryan also drives here regularly. Maybe a competitor to Tui.
The decline of regions can have many causes. One may be accessibility. I think it is important to have good public transport and good accommodation in different price ranges.

Yes, Stockholm is a nice city! We liked Calabria too, when we were there a long time ago. Tropea I remember as very beautiful! And yes, it can have different reasons that regions are declining ... A little interesting that many Swedish regions are increasing and some are decreasing, then you start to think ...
