Suddenly, Taiwan invited us to an event in Stockholm to tell us about the destination Taiwan - and why you should come and visit them. Taiwan is a destination that we have thought relatively little about... and therefore this was extra interesting!

Taiwan - an exciting destination
Taiwan, what an exciting destination! We, who travel a lot, have hardly even thought about visiting this place. Now, for a few hours, we learnt a lot about Taiwan.
Taiwan visits Stockholm
Taiwan organised an event in Stockholm, at the Blique by Nobis hotel, where they invited tour operators, travel writers and others in the travel industry. The event included lectures, workshops, food and dance performances.
Taiwan - a destination with a lot to offer
We learned a lot about Taiwan, including that it is visa-free for Swedes for up to 90 days, that the destination is best to visit during autumn, winter and spring, and that the flight time from Sweden is about 18-23 hours (including transfer time). So what can you experience in Taiwan? Among other things, we were told about:
- Citylife - Taipei and other cities offer city life with attractions and active nightlife, with lively night markets.
- Taiwanese food - Taiwan is a food destination with seafood, vegan food, cookery classes and more. Tea is also a big thing!
- Indigenous peoples - Several ethnic groups are present, such as the Amis people. You are welcome to go on village tours to experience culture and traditions.
- Hiking and outdoor - There is plenty of nature! The island offers lush greenery and high mountains, and you can also cycle.
- Popular visitor destinations - There are many popular attractions such as Sun Moon Lake, Heping Island Park, Guishan Island and more.
- Train travel - You can travel by train to get around the country.
- Festivals - For example, it organises Lantern Festival in Taoyuan 2025.
How to travel to Taiwan?
Taiwan has two airlines. One is called China Airlines (not to be confused with Air China!) and the other is called EVA Air. You can fly with both of these airlines to Taiwan, with a stopover, for example in Amsterdam.
