Happy Lucia!
We wish you a very Happy Lucia! How do we celebrate? Well, maybe not so much, but if we get to see a Lucia train or hear a Lucia song today, that's nice. Maybe there will also be a lussebulle or a gingerbread!
Lucial reading (and a film!)
I (Helena) have written a lot here on freedomtravel.se about traditions and holidays, simply because I find it incredibly exciting. Why do we do what we do? Where have we borrowed the traditions from? And so on ...
Here you will find a lot of reading about Lucia, including a new report on saffron by our guest writer Anna Nilsson Spets. Plus: a film from YouTube where comedian Johan Glans talks about the Lucia celebrations. This film is so funny that we can watch it again every year at Lucia time!
Lots of good food... again!
You may have noticed that Peter likes (or rather loves!) to cook. This time of year, before Christmas, there's usually a lot of focus on food and cooking. Maybe it's because it's cold and chilly outside, and because it gets dark early... Is it the same for you?
When he cooks extra, extra luxurious (and stylish!) dishes, I can't help but take photos. First food picture: Fillet of beef with homemade red wine sauce, homemade au gratin mashed potatoes, bacon-wrapped asparagus, oven-baked carrot and oven-baked small tomatoes.
Second food picture: Salmon gratin with crayfish tails, mould cheese sauce and mashed potatoes. Along with this, boiled peas were served.
Third and fourth food pictures: Sous vide cooked turkey breast with orange sauce, plum compote with brandy and mashed potatoes. This was served with pickled red onions, sugar snaps, soya beans and pea shoots.
Best this week
Best this week? We are starting to get well, after persistent colds and we have finally got some doctor's appointments, which we have been waiting for. Great! Otherwise, we are working on our new project - a travel agency! - which is great fun and very exciting, while of course it means a lot of work. We will tell you more about how it goes soon!
Your turn... What can you highlight as positive from your week?
The week ahead
We are home in Stockholm at the moment and enjoying the houseboat life while we work, work and work. You can expect reports on Sweden, Austria, Tallinn and more. We wish you a very happy Lucia!

Wish you the same! Very good on the plates you have had, and I suspect it continues so 🙂 Here we do not celebrate Lucia, but I have just watched Luciamorgon on SVT. Made another almond paste batch yesterday, it was apparently the best I ever made said Roger. So I'll have to try it later today! That's one of the good things about this week, another is that I got to plant some trees and hang out with good friends.

Wishing you the same, a nice Lucia.
Had a good laugh at Glans film, which I had not seen before. After watching it, I had the TV on and watched the Lucia celebration from Sala, hard not to think about what Glans said hahaha.
Nice picture of you two with glitter and the mare hihihi. The film when you sat on the computer was also good, but where it went when I would show Jacob, I do not know.
Good food you seem to cook and eat yummy.

Isn't the Glans film funny? I laugh at it every year! 🙂 Glad you liked Peter's short film too! Yes... he put it in as a "full screen advert" and they only show once a day per ip address, so it could possibly come up if you are watching on a different device... sorry about that!

It was very tasty on the plates that Peter had prepared.

Wishing you also a nice Lucia weekend and wonderful when colds finally give way. It feels like they have been unusually persistent this autumn. How spoilt you are with Peter who cooks gourmet food during the day. It's nice that there is often one in each relationship who likes to cook, with us it's probably me ...
Here the week has gone fast and Tuesday-Wednesday we went to Gothenburg and met JoY there, really cosy, even if not everything turned out as we planned???
Here it is cooked and fixed today because tomorrow we go to Gothenburg again to celebrate an early Christmas with my daughters, so fun and cosy!

Agree, both we and others we know have been unusually bad in colds ... And of course I'm spoilt with Peter's food!!! Gothenburg and meeting with JoY sounds nice, will check in and see if you tell me about what did not go as planned ...! Wish you a continued nice December!

Wishing you a happy Lucia! Another good week filled with pleasantries at home. I'm glad that I can be part of so much and Stockholm offers a lot of most things. The best? Soup theatre at Stadsteatern, Nobel Week Lights (have seen most of it) lovely lunch with Promenadklubben at Sturehof and now we are loading for a trip to Tenerife on Sunday. Going out tomorrow morning to Arlanda and staying at a hotel in Sky City.
Exciting with your travel agency and keep your fingers crossed. Know that it is great fun but also hard work to get it all going around.
Have a nice weekend.

But how nice it sounds with soup theatre and Nobel Week Lights (we missed it this year)! Also sounds really nice with a trip to Tenerife! And, many thanks for the fingers crossed!

Celebrated by going in and watching a Lucia procession in Adolf Fredriks church this morning together with some of the family. So heavenly nice. Happy Lucia to you!

Lucia I have not seen much of today. 😊
Worked hard at first until we jumped on the train at half past three towards Gävle.
On Sunday, it's finally time for Mauritius.
Happy Lucia to you too! 😊
