We wish you a very Merry Christmas today! We hope you have a great Christmas Eve, whether you are at home or travelling, whether it is snowing, sunny or raining where you are, and whether you have company on this day or not.

Favourites on the Christmas table
We're not really big "Christmas celebrators". Many times we've been travelling over Christmas - and not celebrating at all - and if we're at home we rarely make a big deal of the holiday. We may skip Christmas food altogether if we're travelling, but if we're at home, there are a few favourites that we like to serve.
1. meatballs
Meatballs have risen to the top of our list recently, which is due to the fact that Peter makes such incredible meatballs these days. You can find his meatball recipe here.
2. beetroot salad
Beetroot salad is another favourite. Especially good with meatballs! We usually buy the beetroot salad ready-made, but it's actually quite easy to make your own version.
3. Christmas ham with mustard
Christmas ham with mustard is delicious! This favourite is good on the Christmas table, but maybe yet tastier on a hard sandwich for breakfast or lunch, in the days before and after Christmas Eve.
4. Pickled herring
We both like pickled herring very much, but we eat it almost only on holidays like Christmas and Midsummer. Our favourite is classic pickled herring or possibly onion herring. Ideally, we want a nubbe with it, and preferably Skåne!
5. Gravlax with courtier sauce
Gravlax is another favourite, which always feels luxurious and festive. Super tasty with butler's sauce! We often buy ready-made butler's sauce, but we've also tried making our own.
6. Jansson's temptation
Jansson's temptation is another favourite. This is also a dish that we eat quite rarely in normal cases, and then it becomes all the more delicious for a change. Preferably on the Christmas table, but also works as a simpler meal.
7. Brussels sprouts
Brussels sprouts can be really, really good, especially if you cut it in half and fry it in butter. We rarely buy brussels sprouts for everyday use, so they are a welcome break at Christmas.
8. Anthon Berg marzipan
We don't normally eat a lot of sweets, with the possible exception of ice cream. But at Christmas we want to eat marzipan from Anthon Berg. Sooo good!

Such a lovely photo of you both! We have the same Christmas table as you, only the marzipan is missing...and we have smoked salmon except for the gravlax. But otherwise we eat the same!
Merry Christmas to you both!

Ditte says:
Great picture of you!
When it comes to Christmas food, there's not much that isn't eaten all year round. Yes, lutefisk and dip in the pot is perhaps not common otherwise. I'm not really a fan of "Christmas food". Often gets very mixed. But I like seafood in variety better. Or a good fish stew. A little odd maybe for Christmas, but good,

Helena says:
Glad you like the picture Ditte! Actually, you can eat all that all year round, agree. However, we eat mostly herring at Christmas and midsummer, so then it becomes a special thing anyway 😉 Wish you a nice Christmas, no matter what is on the table !!!

What a funny headline picture of you two:-)
Wishing you also a very Merry Christmas. Celebrate it the way you like best - seemingly with food and drink:-) About the same here. When it comes to food, I am more in the Ditte direction both Christmas and New Year, but lutefisk is a must today; -)

Glad you like the picture! Christmas food may not be our "top list food" really, but there are some things that we like and appreciate! 🙂 Merry Christmas and hope the lutefisk tastes!

Everything you write but I may not care for the Brussels sprouts. As a Gothenburg resident, I am also very fond of Bräutigams marzipan. Unfortunately a bit too expensive though.
