Happy New Year!
We wish you a very Happy New Year! We will celebrate the New Year together with our good friends Lennart and Beata, with a nice dinner at their home, which we help to prepare. It has almost become a bit of a tradition that we celebrate the new year together. It's nice!
Some milestones for FREEDOMtravel 2024
On this, the last day of the year, it's a good time to look back at the past year. We've already told you about trips of the year and campervan trips in 2024. Instead, we thought we'd highlight a few "milestones" from the past year. Here are five major events for FREEDOMtravel travel magazine in 2024:
1. We celebrated our 15th anniversary
2024 was the 15th anniversary of the digital travel magazine FREEDOMtravel, which we 'celebrated' all year. In the spring of 2009, we opened the site, freedomtravel.se, as a personal travel blog and hobby. Since then, a lot has happened - we now call the site "a digital travel magazine", and it is now our full-time job, with the help of advertising funding. We wrote about the anniversary here.
2. We launched "motorhome magazine"
In spring 2024, we launched a "digital motorhome magazine". This can best be described as "a magazine within a magazine" - this is a separate section within FREEDOMtravel, for those who only want to read about motorhome life and motorhome travel. The address is freedomtravel.se/caravan holidays.
3. We selected "Destination of the Year 2024"
Another big thing was that, once again, we awarded "Destination of the Year Sweden" and "Destination of the Year Europe" for motorhome travellers and campers. The awards were presented on the main stage at Scandinavian Caravan Show - The Nordic region's largest trade fair for mobile life - in Jönköping in September.
- High Coast won the "Destination Sweden 2024 of the Year" award, which you could read about in Elmia and TourismNews.
- Miltenberg in Germany won the "Destination Europe 2024 of the Year" award, which was recognised by Germany in the My news.
4. We decided to open a travel agency
2024 was also the year we decided to open a travel agency. Selected experiences and trips will be presented on the upcoming website FREEDOMxplore.com, based on destinations we have visited ourselves. 5. Our guest writers have increased in number
Last but not least, we want to recognise our fantastic guest writers! Some who have contributed a lot during the year include Anna Nilsson Spets and Jonathan Gharbi de Maré. In addition, several new writers have joined us this year, bringing the total number to 20! You can find them all by scrolling down a little on the home page - the writers are presented in round little balls, and if you click on them you will find all their stories.
Looking ahead to 2025
We are now looking ahead to 2025. We will continue to travel - and both write travel reports and put together "experience packages". Welcome to follow us in the channels that suit you!

Wishing you a happy ending and of course a Happy New Year. Will really be exciting with your intended travel agency. (Have worked in that industry for many years, off and on. And it has been so much fun. And with a smaller travel agency, there is an extra lot of work and not least to get the financial with travel guarantees and other things. But it may not apply to the business you have in mind.)
Keeping my fingers crossed that everything will work out and an exciting challenge it is - Worked my last years at a smaller and privately owned travel agency so I really got a good insight into everything and was involved in planning, posting trips and more. Really great fun. and to be a tour leader and partly guide,
And it was certainly different from working for Vingresor and other major travel agencies. The opportunity to influence was so much greater. Great memories to have with me.

Thanks the same Ditte! And thanks for your input on the travel agency! There is a lot that is new to us, but we do this together with another company (Your Brand Travel) and they are responsible for guarantees, insurance, booking systems, contract writing, customer service and such things, so luckily we do not have to learn everything. Initially, it will only be individual travel experiences. Over time, there may be an occasional group trip with us as guides, but we only have the opportunity to organise a few times a year, maximum. We'll see how it goes, but it will be exciting. We will of course update!
