The marketplace at Arlanda has grown into a nice place filled with restaurants, shops and a really nice atmosphere. We were invited here as press one day to check out a novelty that lasts until Christmas: Find Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and win great prizes!

The marketplace at Arlanda
The marketplace is Arlanda's biggest ever investment in shopping, food and drink. More and more shops and restaurants have opened during the year, and even more will open early next year. The environment has gradually changed and we have to say that the whole area feels new, fresh, modern and pleasant.
Shops in the Marketplace
There are already a lot of shops in Marknadsplatsen, and when the next part of the area opens there will be even better shopping opportunities. At the moment, you'll find classic duty-free shops selling skincare products and alcohol, but also books, clothes, technology and Swedish souvenirs.
A shop worth stopping at - if you like liquorice or know someone who likes liquorice - is Liquorice roots. This neat little shop has a good range of liquorice products, both from its own production and from other liquorice producers around Sweden and other countries. Everything from sweet to super salty - often in stylish packaging.
Restaurants in the Market Square
There are also plenty of restaurants in the Market Square - from simple places where you can grab a sandwich on the go to slightly more exclusive places for great dining experiences.
We have previously reported on La Girafe by Pontus Frithiof - Arlanda's best restaurant? and my mouth still waters when I think of the fish stew we had here - absolutely amazing!
Another restaurant signed by Pontus Frithiof has now opened at Arlanda. This one is called Little Italy and is described as "a taste journey where Manhattan meets Italy". Here you can order beer or wine while tucking into a relatively simple dish, served fast-food style on a plastic tray.
The food menu is clearly divided into four groups: pizza, pasta, sandwiches and burgers. A good place if you want something quick, easy and fairly basic, but tasty, before hurrying on to your departure.
If you like sweets, you might also like to stop by RC Bon Bon Ice Cream Parlour. For starters, there are sweets galore.
You can also try their ice cream, which we did on this last visit. The ice cream is really highly recommended. Wow, so creamy and delicious! Plus there are plenty of exciting and interesting flavours.
Find Rudolf - win great prizes!
So, what's this about finding Rudolph then? Well, from now until Christmas 2024, at the Marketplace at Arlanda, you can set out in search of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. You start at the first QR code, which says "Find Rudolph". When you scan, you get a clue, in rhyme, that leads you to the next clue.
After a little while, you will (most likely) find Rudolph hanging out by a fence. Now take a picture of yourself with Rudolph and post it on any social media (e.g. Facebook or Instagram) with the hashtag #IFoundRudolphAtArlanda.
Please note that you need to upload the image to an account that is open for you to win. What can you win then? Well, a jury from Swedavia will choose a winner who, together with a friend, will win an exclusive experience of the Marketplace consisting of:
- A (non-alcoholic) pre-drink with snacks in the Samla bar
- A three-course dinner at Little Italy by Pontus
- So much homemade ice cream you can eat from RC Bon Bon
- A Christmas gift bag with products from Marketplace stores worth approximately SEK 10,000 (winner only)

It's great to have something new at Arlanda. Not least in terms of food. We are travelling in mid-December but it is in the morning so it will be a while in the lounge before take off. Have tried "La Giraffe" and it is definitely worth a visit. Why spend money on a shrimp sandwich when this is available. Will definitely we occasionally test "Little Italy".
I'll pass on Rudolph, but I'm sure he'll have many other visitors.
