Today we're giving you tips on great winter caravan parks in Sweden. We have parked our motorhome in a garage over the winter this year, but we know that there are many people who also drive during the cold season. Therefore, we offer a bunch of tips!

Winter open car parks in Sweden
Where are there winter car parks in Sweden? Yes, here and there in the country! Here are some places to stay with your motorhome overnight, even in the cold season (and yes... the top picture is many years old!)
1. Västerås guest harbour (Västmanland)
We have stayed at the caravan park in Västerås guest harbour several times, and we have always been satisfied. You have a nice view of the water and it is also close to walk into town. The car park has 30 pitches, 18 of which have electricity, and is open all year round.

2. Lundåkrahamnen in Landskrona (Skåne)
Lundåkrahamnen is a large and pleasant caravan park in Landskrona, which welcomes motorhomes all year round. In winter, there are 50 pitches for motorhomes here, and you have a nice view of the water.
- Service: Electricity, toilets, showers, rubbish collection, fresh water and latrine emptying.
- Price: 250/day in winter (2024)
- Booking and payment: Payment is made in a vending machine at the harbour office or via app. You cannot book in advance.

3. Örnsköldsvik guest harbour (Ångermanland)
Örnsköldsvik's guest harbour is a good place to park your campervan, close to the town. The caravan park is open all year round and the reception can be found in the Saltmagasinet Mat & Dryck restaurant. In total there are 16 bookable pitches.

4. Kosta Lodge (Småland)
Kosta Lodge is a very nice and affordable site with wooden decks at each pitch and good service. The site is also a good starting point for visiting Kosta and Glasriket, with glass blowing, restaurants and outdoor activities. The site is open all year round and during the low season (1 Sept - 26 June) the price includes sauna and jacuzzi.

5. Trosa guest harbour (Södermanland)
Trosa guest harbour has been a favourite for many years, even though the price has unfortunately skyrocketed. You stand on fairly simple asphalt car parks, but have good service and walking distance to cozy Trosa. The car park is open all year round, although service is somewhat more limited in winter.
- Service: Electricity, toilets and showers, fresh water (limited in winter), latrine emptying, grey water emptying (not in winter) and washing-up facilities.
- Price: Approximately SEK 485/day with electricity in high season and SEK 375/day with electricity in low season. Lower price if you book without electricity (2024)

6. Axmar Brygga (Gästrikland)
Axmar Brygga is located on the coast north of Gävle and is a real gem for motorhome travellers. You're right by the sea and if you want to eat well, there's Axmar Brygga Havskrog, which also serves Christmas dinner. There are all the services you need, including a motorhome lounge (!). And yes, the caravan park is open all year round.

7. Bauergården in Bunn (Småland)
Bauergården in Bunn is located between Gränna and Jönköping, ten minutes from the E4 motorway. There is space for 70 motorhomes on nice pitches. There is a restaurant, which serves Christmas dinner, and there is also a sauna and nice hiking trails in beautiful nature. On New Year's Eve, it is possible to book a New Year's dinner served to the motorhome.
- Service: Electricity (but in winter you are asked to use LPG for heating), toilets and showers, fresh water, latrine emptying, grey water emptying and washing machine.

8. Stegeborg car park (Östergötland)
Stegeborg's caravan park offers around 60 bookable pitches, with views over the water. It's close by if you want to check out the ruins of Stegeborg Castle, and there are also restaurants and other facilities nearby. This year-round campsite also has electricity on all pitches.

9. Real motorway service station Stockholm - First Camp (Stockholm)
If you're visiting Stockholm by motorhome during the winter, you may want to consider staying at Ställplats Stockholm, which belongs to First Camp and is located in Flaten Nature Reserve. From this year-round campsite, it's 250 metres to the nearest bus stop, where you can continue into the capital.

10. Lagunen motorway service area in Malmö (Skåne)
If you want to visit Malmö by motorhome in the winter, consider pulling in at the Lagunen caravan park, which is nicely located by the water. In winter, there is space for 25 motorhomes here, and there are well-demarcated pitches with electric poles. From here you can get into the centre of Malmö, for example by bike or suitable vehicle.
