In Gothenburg you can experience opera and concerts - with a library card

Now you can see an opera, dance, musical or concert for free with your library card. Since last autumn, it has been possible to borrow a cultural experience via the City Library, and now the Gothenburg Opera is joining in.

You take your library card to one of the libraries, where you borrow an Opera Card. The card is taken to the opera box office where it is exchanged for two tickets. The card is available at Lundby Library, Kulturhuset Bergsjön, Opaltorget Library, the City Library at Götaplatsen and at the City Library 300 m² in Brunnsparken. You can borrow the Opera Card once a year per person.

Birds of the sea at the House of the Sea 2025

Upcoming season at Havets Hus, in Lysekil, has the theme Birds of the Sea. In the shallow part of the aquarium, some of our most common seabirds are displayed. The wooden birds are made by the world-famous artist Tom Nilsson - The Birdman. The exhibition is complemented by bird guiding in Gullmar Hall, photos from the public and a large crawl-in egg for children. Just in time for summer, everything will be in place. The bird year begins with the opening of the photo exhibition on Saturday 15 February at 14.

5 travel trends that will shape 2025

Small-scale luxury, AFK holidays and a surge in guided tours? TUI's trend experts have compiled five travel and lifestyle trends that will shape travel this year. In a new report, travel company TUI shares this year's major travel trends.

  1. Small-scale luxury - Travellers seek luxury in the form of convenience, relaxation, micro-adventures and carefully selected experiences.
  2. Happiness 2.0 - AFK (Away From Keyboard) becomes the watchword - meaningful encounters, authentic experiences and local flavours beckon.
  3. The collective context - Community and socialising are in, and the focus of the holidays is on spending more time together.
  4. Focus on community-based sustainability - Travellers want to make a positive contribution and demand experiences that benefit local people.
  5. Boom for AI - AI technology is making great strides to offer even more tailored and personalised services.

MC-Mässan moves to Elmia in Jönköping in 2026

MC-Mässan moves into Elmia on 23-25 January 2026. MC_Mässan is the meeting place that brings together everyone who loves driving and riding two-wheelers. It showcases the latest models and gives visitors the opportunity to both test drive and experience breathtaking shows. The motorbike show has traditionally had between 30,000 and 40,000 visitors. At Elmia there are good opportunities to receive and welcome them.

Reflection of the week

The travel trends presented by TUI seem to be in tune with the times. We also believe in socialising and small-scale luxury. And yes, we also believe that AI will become an increasingly important part of our lives, although we find it difficult to see exactly how.
