momondo predicts travel in 2030

By 2030, sticking to one destination will be a thing of the past, and combining multiple destinations in one trip will be a thing of the future. That's the prediction of hotel and travel search site momondo, which is launching its first WTF What the Future Report - which reveals eight predictions for travel by 2030, as well as an out and in list:

  • AI agents - Virtual assistants are predicted to help with everything from rebooking flights to finding hidden deals.
  • Jumping between cities - Travellers will plan stop after stop after stop.
  • Vitamin T - Travellers are looking for destinations that promote health, such as swimming pools, spas and fitness facilities.
  • Book directly in the feed - Social media is expected to act as a new, modern booking platform.
  • Virtual adventures - Holographic concierges, 4D tours and virtual hotel tours before arrival await.
  • Low-intensity travel - Concerns about over-tourism and carbon footprint are influencing informed choices and new destinations.
  • Spiritual side missions - The soul comes into focus, for example with silent retreats or genealogy adventures.

Reflection of the week

By 2030, we'll apparently be using AI agents, booking directly in the flow, discovering brand new destinations and hopping between cities at full speed. Maybe we will? At the same time, it feels like a contradiction to the travel trends 2025 talking about sun and beach holidays, safety and security.

Of course, it is always difficult to predict the future, and one thing that will come into play is the world situation. Another development that will be interesting to follow is digital development combined with people's demand for human encounters and genuine experiences.
