Have you tried Escape Room in Stockholm? A few days ago we tried Lumenia, together with our friends Lennart and Beata, and it was an experience beyond the ordinary.

What is Escape Room?
So, what exactly is an 'Escape Room'? This experience, which can also be called "escape game", can be described as a game in which a team of players discover clues, solve puzzles and perform tasks in one or more rooms to achieve a specific goal in a limited time.

A nice day with our friends
We had never tried the "Escape Room" experience before, but now it was time! Lumenia Escape Room, located in Vasastan, invited us to test their experience, and we brought our good friends Lennart and Beata.
We first met for a lunch in Sundbyberg. After two visits you can almost say that we have a new neighbourhood restaurant in the Indian restaurant Lagan. Apart from serving really good Indian food, a large strong costs 29 kroner (February 2025). It's hard to complain, right?

Escape Room in Stockholm - Lumenia
After lunch it was time to go to our planned Escape Room in Stockholm - Lumenia. We could have taken the metro from Sumpan but we took a Bolt, which was probably at least as affordable when we were four people. Lumenia is located at Karlbergsvägen 89 A, not far from St Eriksplan in Vasastan.

The door said "Knock three times, ring twice and then welcome in!". That set the tone for the magical atmosphere, and soon we found ourselves in an environment filled with magic and mysticism.
There are two adventures to choose from at Lumenia and we had chosen "The Secret of the Magic Wand Shop". We had to wait a little while, in a comfortable sofa group, and then we got information about, and some good advice for, the adventure that awaited ...

Lumenia Escape Room in Stockholm - let the game begin!
It was time! We were shown to the room where they play "The Secret of the Wand Shop" and on one wall we got to "meet" the wizard who told us about the well hidden golden wand. So this was what we had to find ... and activate!

For us, having never played a game like this before, it took some time to figure out how to think. There are lots of boxes and hiding places, and many of the boxes are sealed with padlocks, and to get in there you have to crack the code...
We quickly learnt that you have to work together. The best thing is to spread out a bit in the room, try different things, say everything you're thinking out loud... and solve the challenges together! Luckily, there's also a chain to pull if you need a clue - which happened to us several times - and with a few little hints and cleverly asked questions, you'll suddenly get somewhere. Great fun!

Please note that not is scary in any way, but the feeling is more like stepping into a magical storybook. However, it is clever and you have to concentrate and try to think outside the box to crack the codes.

Did we find the golden wand? Yes, we did in the end, although we had to stretch the deadline a bit... It was great fun and we are now all keen to challenge ourselves again - but in the form of the second room, "The Last Magic School".

Fun concept. I have tried it, but in Linköping. Luckily it was with a bunch of younger colleagues, one of them had done it before.
It's really tricky and you need to think in different ways and if you've never tried it before, it takes a while to get the hang of it.
We also succeeded, although it took time.

Glad you tried! Yes, it feels like you can practice a bit in how to think, we were a little lost to begin with (and maybe all the time really, haha) ... 😉

Escape room is something that my sister's family has tried in different places and they love it. Now that my brother-in-law and his friend have started one here in Karlskrona, we got the chance to try and it was great fun! I was almost afraid to go there, thinking that I would not figure out what needed to be done. It was nice to be able to get help on a couple of occasions. There were four of us together, two of whom were experienced escaperoomers. I was so happy as I could get into the right track of thinking! Would love to try it again and look forward to when the next concept is ready at the brother-in-law's so we can try those rooms too.

Escape Room seems to have become really popular. My daughters in Gothenburg have tried a few different ones down there and we had the idea to do it as an activity on my birthday. Now we didn't get round to it as we hope we will have the opportunity to try it at some point. It seems really fun and clever ....

Yes, it seems to have become popular! We've heard a lot about it, before we tried it for the first time. Hope you get the opportunity to test another time, really fun! 🙂

A few years ago I tried the escape room in Linköping with the oldest boy and his friend. Just as you write, it was both fun and challenging. Our theme was not magic. But were you allowed to take photos in the room? Where we were there was an absolute ban on photography. I can understand because they don't want you to accidentally spoil any clues.
18 February 2025 - 11:49
Helena says:
Yes, it could probably be different themes! As far as I know, no problem taking photos, but of course you shouldn't give away any clues, which I'm pretty sure we didn't do... 😉
