This week we've been dreaming of Japan, sunny houseboating and cooking. Has the sun come out for you too? What has been the best part of your week, and what are your weekend plans?

Press breakfast - direct flights to Tokyo now available
We attended a breakfast event this week where the Japanese airline ANA (All Nippon Airways) told us about the new direct Stockholm - Tokyo route. The flight is operated by a Boeing 787-8 and runs three times a week. The price seems reasonable, and if you book an onward flight within the country at the same time, this is included at no extra cost.
Are you attracted to Japan? Yes, we are definitely attracted! The culture and food in Japan feel very special, and we really hope to explore the country at some point.
During the press breakfast, the Japanese representatives of the ANA talked a lot about the similarities between the Japanese people and the Scandinavian people. Among other things, similar nature and similar fairy tales were mentioned. It was interesting! Have you been to Japan?

Sunny houseboat life
When we're not running to events or meetings, we're living the houseboat life. It's been a long, grey period, but now finally the sun wants to show itself occasionally!

We have to agree with many others that the sun and light play a big role in how we feel. When it's grey and rainy, we hardly want to go out. When the sun comes out - it's a whole different story and we love our walks!

Cookery
Peter's main interest, apart from travelling, is... food! When he wants to relax, he watches Youtube films about cooking, and plans what dishes he wants to make. I (Helana) am a grateful taster of it all... Sometimes I snap a few photos, and here are two from the week! Was it good? Mmm, very!

Best this week
Best this week? We like to ask ourselves this question because it forces us to reflect. Of course, there are a lot of bad things happening too, both in society and in our personal lives, but we do our best to focus on the positive.
Right now we are grateful for the sun that has finally decided to show itself! We are also happy that it pushing ahead with travel agency plans! What has been the best part of your week?

I also dream of Japan and have done so for a long time. I had a trip to Tokyo, booked and ready, but then the corona came and the trip was of course cancelled.
I share Peter's interest. I get as excited as a child on Christmas Eve when I find new recipes to try, and I like to cook everything at once.
Hope you have a nice weekend.

So sad that the trip to Japan was cancelled, hope you get another chance! Now, as I said, there are direct flights, and the prices seem to be relatively good! Lovely that you also like to cook! 🙂 Have a nice weekend!

I've never been to Japan, but I'm sure it's an attractive country. I had a Japanese colleague for several years and it was always a pleasure to be invited to her home. Eating sushi with her was an experience.
The best thing this week has probably been the new specialised search course I am taking.
Wishing you a great weekend!

How exciting to be invited to a Japanese colleague's home! I love sushi, but have mostly eaten it in Swedish restaurants (and some restaurants abroad too, but not in Japan). Fun with the new course!

My nephew and his mate are currently in Japan! I can't believe that as a nineteen year old he dares to drive around with a rental car - I'm highly impressed... He sends lovely pictures and films and I think I know that the travel fever he inherited from another aunt is given more oxygen during this trip. What beautiful views you show from Stockholm and the food looks absolutely delicious. Hope you have a really nice Friday and weekend!

Japan is on our list too. Finnair has been flying from Helsinki for a long time, but it is good to have direct flights. My husband's son speaks perfect Japanese and spends a lot of time and works in Japan, spends months there and "knows the country". So hopefully we will get a trip there with him. Is probably the country that attracts us most right now. Best of the week? Have seen a preview of the film "A Complete Unknown" about Bob Dylan So good! Lunch with the Promenade Club at Sturehof, theatre, SPA at Centralbadet, walks, met friends. Yes, the week is going fast.
Wishing you a great weekend.

I can't believe it's already been a week again. You really offer nice views from the marina. Sometimes I wonder why we do not feel any longing for Japan, which probably has an incredible amount to offer and several of our acquaintances have been there several times and are completely taken over the country, but then we have many countries that we long for much more, but as usual it is lucky that we are different.
Peter's food looks absolutely delicious, not bad for you to sit down at the set tables.
Our best this week was a day at Gullmarsstrand, in beautiful Fiskebäckskil. In addition, in a brilliant spring winter sun.
We are now gearing up for a new week, including with the grandchildren who are on holiday.
Have fun!

Japan has long been on my list. I have a Japanese friend whose Japanese food beats food in Japanese restaurants. Like Japanese home cooking that you probably only get in Japan.
Then I would not only like to visit Tokyo but Kyoto (the cherry blossom) and I want to ride the Shinkansen too. Then a visit to another Japanese friend in Shizuoka would not be completely wrong either.
Then you must not forget that Japan is terribly expensive if you have the Swedish krona in mind. But you can always dream;-)

Japan is on our list too, been for many years. Good there are direct flights at decent prices from Sweden. Haven't even checked what it costs from here, but it's not relevant right now. The desire to travel is gone, but hope it will come back one day.
