Spain was the overwhelming favourite for the sports holidays
The sports holidays are one of the major travel periods of the year and this year Spain was the obvious favourite. The travel agency Tickets' booking statistics show a clear trend where Europe dominated the Swedes' choice, while Thailand climbed and the United States lost ground. The number of bookings to the United States fell by 25 per cent compared to the sports holiday weeks last year. Most people travelled here during the sports holidays:
- Gran Canaria, Canary Islands
- Malaga, Spain
- Alicante, Spain
- London, United Kingdom
- Barcelona, Spain

Stockholm Caravan Motorhome over - campers dare to buy new again
It was a success to say the least when Stockholm Caravan Motorhome was held at Stockholmsmässan on 13-16 March. "There is a completely different flavour in the industry this year and you can see that campers dare to ask for a quote, dare to change and dare to do business," says Jörgen Nyström, project manager for the fair, which was held for the second time. The number of visitors to the fair this year was 29 286 (27 114 last year).

Unique music collaboration with Albin Lee Meldau in Polar's new campaign
In the "Take the Freedom" campaign, the caravan manufacturer from Dorotea presents a new image of what caravan life can be to the tune of a specially written soundtrack. Albin Lee Meldau delivers a unique interpretation of Bob Dylan in Swedish. "Shelter from the Storm" from 1975 becomes 50 years later "Världen utanför" in Meldau's version.

One in two Swedes are considering a "sleepcation"
A new survey by hotel and travel search site momondo reveals that rest and relaxation are becoming an increasingly important part of the holiday experience. In fact, as many as one in two Swedes are considering booking a so-called "sleepcation" - a trip entirely centred around catching up on lost sleep.
momondo has therefore listed the world's most sleep-friendly destinations, based on factors such as air quality, noise pollution and perceived safety. Here are the top five for a sleepy holiday:
- Split, Croatia
- Canmore, Canada
- Andorra de la Vella, Andorra
- Reykjavik, Iceland
- Funchal, Portugal

Nordic Museum seeks five diary writers
This spring, the Nordic Museum is launching a new collection project focusing on diaries. But the museum is already looking for five people who want to write regularly about their everyday lives for a year. Anyone can register their interest in becoming a diary writer. It takes place at daysandnights.nordiskamuseet.se by 30 March at the latest.

Construction starts on visitor centre by Göta Canal
The detailed plan has been approved and the formal decision has been taken. The plan now is to go straight to tender, break ground after the summer and open a visitor centre at Berg's locks In addition to exhibitions about the Göta Canal, the centre will include a restaurant, café and other facilities. The canal company expects the centre to attract around 100,000 visitors annually and be open all year round.

Reflection of the week
Fun with the visitor centre at Göta Canal - it will be a good complement to this great attraction! Also fun with the collection of diary writing! From a historical perspective, everyday life is at least as interesting as the outstanding political events, or what do you think?

The Adventure of the Future says:
Sleepcation is certainly becoming more common. We have friends from Iceland coming over and they are going to rest here in Funchal, with only a few activities. Saw that Funchal is in fifth place in that genre. People need to rest in a different way now than before. Stress is a world problem, I think.
Have a nice Monday!

Sleepcation is something you have all the time when you are retired, and this type of holiday does not even cost money.
That 9h hotel in Tokyo looks like a utopian hostel and a morgue respectively. I would not want to stay there I can say. And to be honest, I hardly go to Tokyo or Funchal for that matter if I'm going to sleep out. Then I choose completely different destinations, for example a monastery or retreat somewhere. Or am I completely wrong here and not seeing the point...
