What a week! - Iftar, quirky everyday life and a motorhome trip

Writer: Helena Bergström

We ended the trip in Cairo by being invited to iftar. Then we went straight home to a weekday filled with everything from meetings and travel agency preparations to unsuccessful planning, picking up a "discarded" motorhome and a motorhome trip north. So, wow what a week!

Iftar in Egypt

Our trip in Cairo ended with iftar, the meal that breaks the fast in the evenings during Ramadan. It was our Egyptian partners, a local travel agency, who invited us to experience iftar with them.

Interesting to experience, and also a fantastic group to experience it all with. By the way, did you know that iftar is listed as an intangible cultural heritage on the UNESCO World Heritage List?

Full steam ahead: A week of work, meetings and a failed plan

Since we came home from Egypt, everything has come together, and it's a bit of a mess when I try to think about it. The main thing we've been spending time on, more than anything else, is our upcoming travel agency FREEDOM Xplore. We open on Saturday 29 March and now, just before opening, it's pebble a lot of work!

We were going to an event too, which we thought was important, but due to stress and confusion (?) we got the address wrong, ended up at the wrong end of town and never arrived. Yes, that's how it can happen ... But we did manage to meet Peter's son Robin and his wife Alexandra!

Peter's fish stew this week, with cream, shallots, fennel, grapes and dill.

Collection of motorhome (which we have neglected)

We've had our motorhome stored in a garage over the winter, and now we needed to get it out. The only question was ... where did we put it? In which garage? In which county ...?

We had a vague memory of taking a train from somewhere, but the appointments were washed away. We looked everywhere and after several hours of detective work, we found invoices and traces of relevant phone calls in our phones ... Yes, you wonder how you can forget where you put your motorhome? But ... now we have both found and collected it!

The first thing we did after picking up our motorhome was to fill the LPG our new fixed LPG tank, which we did at Gasolfyllarna in Barkarby.

The first thing we did after that was to repair a stone chip, which we got on the way from the winter storage ... We got an appointment at Ryds Bilglas almost immediately. It was perfect!

After that, it has been spring cleaning at express speed! We haven't really had time at all ... but we need the car!

Motorhome holiday to the High Coast

Meanwhile, we have now set off on a motorhome trip to High Coast! Did we say it's a lot right now? Yes, it is indeed! We have travelled to the High Coast (which is a big favourite!) because we have several partners and potential partners for the travel agency here.

Some we will meet to brainstorm ideas and others we will meet to test and write about their experiences. It will be an intense programme for a few days!

Best this week

Best this week? Well, time is a bit of a mess right now so I don't know what belongs to last week and what belongs to this week. But I do know one thing, and that is that it is super cosy to spend time in the motorhome! It also felt relatively well cleaned when we collected it.

There was certainly some mouse poo here and there (we can understand that the mice also found it cosy in our camper van!) but it seems so far - take it from me - that they haven't damaged anything. Happy Friday!

What has been the best part of your week ...?

The week ahead

The week ahead? Well, right now it's the High Coast that applies to us! We have a bunch of planned stops, for a few days, and then we roll back towards the capital. In addition, we are planning for the opening of the travel agency FREEDOM Xplore on Saturday!

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy Friday and weekend!
