Glamping Höga Kusten offers a nature-orientated and relaxed experience in Undrom, on the High Coast. We came here one day at the end of March, when the half-melted ice lay like a thick wet blanket over the ground, and got to experience a really relaxing day, with glamping cosiness and dinner cooked over an open fire.

Glamping High Coast
Those who come to Glamping High Coast can expect, among other things, inviting nature, a personal welcome, well-cooked food, a luxurious tent to stay in and the possibility of a sauna. We rolled in in the afternoon and were immediately welcomed by Marco and Nicole, who offered coffee and afternoon coffee by the fire in the round little cottage.

Glamping Höga Kusten is located in Offer i Undrom, in Sollefteå Municipality, in Västernorrland County. By car, it takes half an hour to drive from Sollefteå. From Härnösand and Örnsköldsvik it takes about an hour.
From city life in the Netherlands to the tranquillity of the High Coast
When Marco and Nicole decided to move from the Netherlands to Sweden about eight years ago, it was to escape the stress of the big city and to find other values in life. The lack of resources could not be an obstacle. Instead, "freedom" had to serve as a common thread, and they worked their way forward step by step. At first, they took various jobs here and there. In time, they were able to buy their first glamping tent.
They now live on the farm with two children, two horses, sheep, dog, cat and chickens. There are two glamping tents on the farm and they are in the process of building another unique accommodation for guests. In addition, they manage no less than eight glamping tents, which they rent out in the summers at, and in collaboration with, High Coast Whisky.

The tranquillity of the countryside
It's a peaceful place in the country that they have found, Marco and Nicole. Weather-wise, we chose perhaps the worst week of the year. The week before offered a beautiful winter landscape. Next week, spring may be more evident. When we were here, the whole area was embedded in a semi-melted blanket of slippery and wet ice. But the weather didn't stop us from experiencing the peaceful atmosphere.

When we arrived, we mainly hung out in the smaller little cabin, by the cosy fire. When the weather is better, you can choose to have a fire outside, and there is also a larger cabin, if you are more guests.

Those who want to can go for peaceful walks or hikes. We didn't go very far (because of the wet ice!), but we went far enough to experience the rippling sound of water. In summer, you can apparently swim here, in a place that Marco and Nicole describe with expressions like "blue lagoon" or "hidden gem".

Staying in a glamping tent
The experience we were most excited about was spending a night in a glamping tent. We can say that we've tried glamping abroad before - in the Sahara, for example - but never at our latitudes. I, as love cosy accommodations, have long been craving this experience, and now it was finally time!

You zip up the canvas and inside awaits ... a high cosiness factor with comfortable beds, cosy armchairs and a crackling fireplace that spreads a pleasant warmth around you.

How does the toilet work? Well, just outside the tent, you have your own private little toilet block with a separate toilet.

Dinner over an open fire
Dinner is cooked over an open fire, and it was cosy just hanging out by the fire while Nicole prepared the day's meal.

What was served? On the plate that day, we were served minced lamb, peppers, mushrooms, potatoes and sweet potatoes. We also had a salad made with white cabbage. Very, very good!

Anyone with special requirements, for example because they are a vegetarian or have an allergy, can notify this when booking. Please also note that Glamping Höga Kusten is not authorised to serve beer or wine.

A cosy evening - maybe with a sauna?
We really enjoyed our delicious dinner and the crackling fire. After dinner, many people choose to sauna for a while (the sauna is very nice and is secluded and close to nature!) But we are not sauna fans, so we opted out.

Instead, we went back to our glamping tent. So incredibly cosy now, with the warm fire, the armchairs and the blankets. In the best of worlds, we would have relaxed and read a book each.
Now we had to open our travel agency (the next morning!), so we had a lot to do at the computers. But put it this way: No environment could have been more relaxing for us than this! And the starry sky, wow... the starry sky!

Breakfast over an open fire
I love to sleep in cosy "huts" of all kinds, so I promise I slept well in our glamping tent! We woke up early, loaded some more pellets in the fire, and enjoyed our place in the forest. After taking care of our digital tasks, it was time to walk to breakfast... which was also cooked over an open fire!

For breakfast we were offered good bread, cold cuts and yoghurt, as well as the opportunity to fry eggs (from the farm's hens!) and bacon.

As a special treat, just because we opened the travel agency that morning, Nicole and Marco offered us a bottle of sparkling (non-alcoholic) berry drink from Kvarnå craft vinegar. What a morning!

Have you ever tried glamping?
Have you ever tried glamping? How was your experience? We can say that we would love to "glamp" again!

I don't even recognise it, even though I lived in Sollefteå. My dad came from there. Glamping is something I'm curious about.
