Habo Church and Bottnaryd Church are two fantastically beautiful wooden churches in Västergötland and Småland respectively. Both churches are from the 17th century and both are richly decorated with fantastic paintings. These churches are well worth a visit, whether you are interested in church history or not.

Kalmar County Museum offers a very exciting exhibition on the regal ship Kronan, which sank in the Baltic Sea in 1676. There are also some other interesting exhibitions here - including one on the mysterious massacre at the ancient Sandby Borg castle on Öland.

Did you know that there are around 15-20 ancient castles on Öland? The castles are now ruins, and the findings tell stories about everyday life in the Iron Age, wealth, journeys to Eastern Europe, and untimely death. Solliden Palace on Öland is the royal family's summer paradise. Although the villa is private, most of the beautiful garden is open to the public. Here you can stroll through beautifully landscaped parks, and perhaps have a coffee at Kaffetorpet.
