Dissertation and dissertation party

Finally, it was time for the defence and the defence party! Yesterday I presented my research and the content of my thesis in front of an audience. After the presentation, it was time for the opponent, Dr Craig Melville from the University of Glasgow, to lead the questioning and discussion. He asked tricky but good questions. I was very, very happy with the opponent, but after two hours of questioning in English, I was still exhausted...

Working hard - renovating apartments and houseboats

We have carried out a number of large construction projects in our spare time. When we met, ten years ago, I had a 22 square metre apartment in the centre of Stockholm. It was too small for me, Peter and his two sons on a half-time basis... For exactly the same money (or even a little less), we got 76 square metres in Sundbyberg. What did that apartment look like? A different style of interior design

Now it's a houseboat for us, and here we try to mix a bit of a rustic boat feel with modern furnishings in black and silver. It's a sharp contrast to how we decorated our previous apartment. You may remember that we decorated in a turn-of-the-century style: antique furniture and lots of stucco.

We made a trip with Viking Line Cinderella between Friday and Saturday. Sometimes it is nice to get away on a small trip, even if you do not go so far away. The entertainment section on Viking Line Cinderella has been rebuilt, and there is both a new nightclub and new restaurants. So what did we think?

Difficult to buy shoes in Sweden

My winter boots are completely worn out, and I really need new ones. But how difficult it is to buy shoes and boots in Sweden! Everything looks exactly look the same. Now I've been round almost every shoe chain in the country (I think), and what do I find? Black straight unlined boots that everyone sees. identical out. Firstly, what's wrong with adding some lining? Secondly, why is it so scary to have a tiny bit of design... like a strap somewhere? A fur trim?
