Things to do in Örebro - 10 experiences and attractions

In fact, Örebro has a lot to offer, whether you like culture, history or perhaps nature. Örebro Castle is a landmark, as is the towering Svampen from 1958, which is 58 metres high. Cycle or walk along the Svartån river, walk around the charming city park, check out Nikolai Church and Olaus Petri Church.

Örebro offers beautiful nature such as the Oset and Rynningeviken nature reserve and the nature centre. You also have Bergslagsleden, Garphyttan National Park and Tysslingen with its whooper swans. If you're in Örebro with children, Gustavsvik is a must or the little ones' train around the big island among sheep in the summer.

Boo Castle and Brevens Bruk

Boo Castle is a beautiful terracotta-coloured palace reminiscent of a fairytale castle. Nearby is also Boo Church which has thousands of daffodils and probably the only ones in Sweden. They were brought from Scotland 250 years ago and have been spreading ever since. Not too far from here, you can also visit the beautiful Brevens Bruk and see lots of deer.

Askersund

This is a really nice town that we can recommend. Don't miss the Sager cottage from 1752 that survived the great fire of 1776 in Askersund, seek out the old super charming part of town. Stroll in the harbour and have an ice cream among all the boats or go to the beautiful Stjernsund Castle and preferably on a guided tour that Johan Oxelstierna had built in the 17th century. Don't miss the local community centre and the city park.

Tiveden National Park

This is the top three of the hikes we have done in the past. Really good! Tiveden National Park is mostly located in Västergötland, but Närke also gets to take part in the beautiful nature that extends into the landscape. We chose the entrance Vitsand and here you can both swim and barbecue.
