In Malta we have lots of things to do and several attractions. We have been to Malta many times and had a lot of fun. We have gathered all the great places in one place in this post and maybe you will get something out of it.
Malta's history dates back 7000 years when the first Phoenicians arrived on the island. Since then many nations have ruled the island such as the Arabs for 200 years, France, Britain and many more such as the Crusaders. Malta was completely bombed during World War II and is now a very beautiful and interesting country with its own language. Let's go!

What a day!

Fortina Spa resort in Sliema with balcony around the entire apartment and top floor where we look and see the whole of Valletta...WOW! The room is super modern and below is the entire pool area. You also have beaches, shops and restaurants and if you want to get to the capital Valletta, you take a small charming boat that takes you over in 10 minutes.
8. Hire a segway for a day

- Maria Giovanna guesthouse
- Farmhouse In rural settings for whole families where the "Boran Group" is really good.
12. Taste local specialities
We went to Mr Joseph Spiteri at Ta' Mena Estate because they were gossiping about fantastic local produce. Here it was explained how an olive oil should taste and how you know when it is good. They also had in their shop their own sausages, dried "gbejniet" olives, sun-dried tomatoes and homemade bread from Malta which they value highly. Top quality and book on when you come to Malta.
13. Inspired by the Citadel of Victoria (Rabat)
Rabat, as the city was once called, is located in the centre of the island and offers great views in all directions. The city walls are metres thick and it's a good thing, because here stands a fantastic heritage such as the church (citadel). It will take your breath away and is enormously beautiful in all its ornamentation.
14. You can also go beekeeping in Malta.
In Malta there are many farmers and they are very careful about them. We stayed with Mr Arnold Grech in Bidnija where we got to meet all the bees and he explained what they do for our world. A really fascinating experience.
15. Fascinated by St John's Co-Cathedral
This is the finest cathedral we have ever seen and it is a masterpiece. Built between 1573 and 1577 under Grand Master Jean de la Cassier, the entire floor is covered with beautiful marble tombstones with a few sentences about each person. Experience the feeling of knighthood in one of the world's most beautiful baroque churches with lots of gold and art.

17. Visit a car collector in Malta
Over 100 original cars such as Mercedes 59, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Cadillac, Jaguar and many more were on display. They also had a bar there, and we could talk to Leo Grech who bought all these cars. He was the owner of the Maltese bus company Paramount Coaches that his father Joseph Grech started in the 1930s many years ago.
18. Be a farmer for a day
The farmer Rikkardu of Ta' Rikardu and the restaurant owner and cheesemaker do it in a genuine way. We visited him and I (Peter) got to milk the goats by hand as they have always done. We also learnt how to make traditional cheese gbejniet, real cheese.
19. Things to do in Malta - Valletta
Just being in Valletta is cosy, and the fact that knights once walked the streets makes the city even more attractive. Some things we think you should remember to discover are...
- Pubs for sailors and prostitutes were common in the past, and when the British were stationed in Malta from 1830-1979, they increased again. Search for Strait Street in Valletta and find the old bars.
- Take a boat ride on a traditional Maltese boat (called a dghajsa, a kind of gondola) to the ports of Marsamxett and Grand Harbour, or to the towns of Cospicua, Senglea and Vittoriosa.
- There are 25 churches here
- Beautiful Upper Barrakka Gardens which is also a great photo location
- The Manoel Theatre was built in 1731 by Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena. It is the third oldest theatre in Europe and performances still take place, or take a guided tour.
20. Diving in Malta
On Gozo, the second island after Malta, we went to Marsalforn because I (Peter) wanted to dive. The diving company is called Calypso Diving Centre and they were really good. I had an instructor with me and it was just the two of us diving in the bay.
21. Boat trip to Comino and the Blue Lagoon
As Malta is an island, a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon on the island of Comino is a perfect day trip. The boat departs from the island of Malta (Cirkewwa) or Gozo (Mgarr) and offers world-class turquoise waters. There is a hotel and three people live on the island. If you have a lot of money, you can take the helicopter from Malta's Luqa Airport.

We were in Malta on 11 October and were told that there is a festival of lights in Vittoriosa outside Valletta and every year there is a "Birgufest". The Maltese are experts at parties and we wanted to join in. Throughout Vittoriosa town, every door was open and everyone was talking to everyone. All electricity was down and candles were everywhere. We met an amazing couple researching megalithic temples which you can read more about here.
