This motorhome weekend started with us going to a site in Sikhjälma harbour, on the Hållnäs headland in Tierp municipality. We had a special reason to come here, but this is also a beautiful place by the sea. Here you can, among other things, experience the Kapplasse nature reserve and fantastic sunsets.

Kapellskär's campsite is beautifully located in the Riddersholm nature reserve, with the coast and the Åland Sea just outside. We drove here on the first "proper" motorhome trip of the year and had a wonderful day in the Swedish nature.

Bergs locks - Göta Canal's mighty lock staircase

The Berg locks in the Göta Canal include a total of 11 locks, and it's really fascinating to watch the boats make their way up and down the steep lock stairs. The Berg locks also have a café, restaurants, mini-golf and a caravan park.

Peter Grip has achieved the feat of visiting ALL 196 independent states in the world. He started travelling seriously in 1989 when he backpacked for several months and in 2010, when he was actually only 42 years old, he 'finished' in Tonga - the last white spot on his map. By then he had visited the 195 independent states in the world, and when South Sudan became independent in December 2010, he was of course quick to add country number 196!
