Why camp in Poland?
Poland is a real camping country. There are lots of campsites, many of which are located in beautiful, natural surroundings. There aren't as many pitches, but on the other hand, the prices of the campsites are often good, so they can often be an excellent starting point.
In Poland you can discover everything from long sandy beaches to beautiful cities, historical sights and beautiful nature. There is also plenty of good, well-prepared home cooking. Welcome to discover Poland!

- Road tolls: On private motorways there is a charge, payable at on-site stations, regardless of the weight of the vehicle. If you are driving a passenger car or motorhome under 3.5 tonnes, you also pay on state motorways at on-site stations, using cash or card. If you drive a motorhome or other vehicle weighing more than 3.5 tonnes, you must use electronic payment. You can read more at e-TOLL.
- Speed limits: Passenger cars and motorhomes under 3.5 tonnes drive at 140 km/h on motorways, and at 90, 100 or 120 km/h on expressways and country roads as indicated by signs. Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes may only drive at 80 km/h.
- Per mille limit: 0,2
- Traffic rules: Talking on a handheld phone and sending text messages while driving is prohibited. Be prepared for careless overtaking.
- Words in traffic: "Koniec" means end, and means that what was previously warned about or regulated no longer applies.
- Fuel: Diesel is called ON (Olej Napedowy). Petrol is sold as PB 95 or 98 or Superplus 98. The petrol called "Universalna 95U" is for older cars without a catalytic converter.
- Parking rules: Vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tonnes may park on the pavement, provided that at least 1.5 metres of it is left free and pedestrian traffic is not obstructed. "Postój platny" means paid parking.
- Security: Make sure you have Roadside Assistance, so that you can get help on the spot in case of an accident. The emergency number for the country's emergency services is 112.
Rules on camping and pitches in Poland
- There are plenty of campsites and occasional pitches in Poland, and campsites are often well priced.
- Although caravan sites are less common in Poland, there's no need to worry. Instead, there are plenty of campsites and prices are good.
- Free camping is only allowed with the permission of the landowner.
