The Berg locks in the Göta Canal include a total of 11 locks, and it's really fascinating to watch the boats make their way up and down the steep lock stairs. The Berg locks also have a café, restaurants, mini-golf and a caravan park.

Vreta Abbey in Östergötland is one of Sweden's oldest monasteries. Today there is a ruined monastery and a beautiful church from the 12th century. Not far from here is the ruins of Stjärnp Castle. Both places have a lot of history, and of course the stories are intertwined.

Mem is a small town by the deep bay of Slätbaken, just outside Söderköping. The small town serves as the Baltic Sea gateway to the Göta Canal and it was also here that the canal was once inaugurated. For us, this is the place where we start our motorhome journey to follow the Göta Canal.

Ängskärs havscamping is beautifully situated on the Hållnäs peninsula in north-eastern Uppland. We camped here for a day and enjoyed the beautiful nature and lovely cliffs by the sea. If you're travelling by motorhome and prefer to stay on a pitch, there are several to choose from nearby.

This motorhome weekend started with us going to a site in Sikhjälma harbour, on the Hållnäs headland in Tierp municipality. We had a special reason to come here, but this is also a beautiful place by the sea. Here you can, among other things, experience the Kapplasse nature reserve and fantastic sunsets.

Kapellskär's campsite is beautifully located in the Riddersholm nature reserve, with the coast and the Åland Sea just outside. We drove here on the first "proper" motorhome trip of the year and had a wonderful day in the Swedish nature.
