I know I almost promised a report from Greece today, but it will not be. Peter of course has lots to tell from his trip to Greece, but that will come next week. What happened in our houseboat marina yesterday is too dramatic not to be told. I woke up early to strange noises ... and soon realised that this morning we were moored with no connection to land.

On Sunday we came home late in the evening (read: night). On Monday morning it was time for me to go to work and for Peter to start with blog work, invoices, meetings and fixing the houseboat. This week has really gone sooo fast. We still have a lot to be happy about! Today there will be another film from Wismar and a report both from our houseboat and from the new commuter train station in Stockholm.
Read moreI work half day from home today, but then it's time for us to roll. At last! In 2015 we travelled around Europe with the motorhome for 365 days. Last year there were only a few campervan trips within the country - to Piteå and to Elmiamässan among others. To get down to Europe with the motorhome again feels ... fantastic!
Read moreHave you seen the TV series Mother Goose? Did you realise that it is partly set here in our marina? Apparently there will be another season, because the film crew has been here again to shoot Mother Goose.
Read moreMost of the time, houseboat life feels quite ordinary, but sometimes it is still not quite "ordinary". We woke up at 04:20 yesterday morning by the alarm in the boiler room. What was it now? Well, a power cut ... We went back to sleep and hoped for the best, but when we woke up we were still without electricity. We also woke up to a day of real April weather.
Read moreWet snow across the board one day and glorious sunshine the next. Today we have sun again, and this is when we enjoy how fantastic we think it is to live in a marina. Living in a houseboat is a slightly different kind of accommodation. It's not just about the houseboat itself, but perhaps primarily about what's around it: the water, the boats, the ducks and all the other houseboats.
Read moreLiving in a houseboat is not quite like living in an apartment or a villa ... We live in an ice-free marina, but sometimes ice floes from Lake Ulvsunda slip in and hit the boat hull. The other night, when we were going to sleep, there was a completely different sound that disturbed our sleep. The water was rippling, loud and intense. We had never heard that before.
Read moreWhen I woke up yesterday morning, I had a waiting text message on my mobile phone: "Believe it or not. We are in Stockholm. Are you free and want to meet?" No, I am not free - on the contrary, I am working quite a lot right now - but we wanted to meet! We simply asked if our friends wanted to come for dinner in the houseboat in the evening after work. And they did!
Read moreWe have had a quiet weekend in the houseboat. We have run our training programme on the lower deck, watched TV and had a coffee with some friends. But mostly we have been sitting at the computers and working on different projects around the blog. It feels a bit like this is the calm before the storm. Already on Thursday it is time for new trips ...
Read moreYesterday I showed pictures of our houseboat with a light covering of snow and wrote about how it is living in a houseboat in winter. Then came the real winter and struck, with snow chaos in Stockholm. We woke up with the houseboat lying at an angle in the water and it was actually quite nice to have something else to think about than, well you know ... that election.
