We travelled to the Cabo de Sao Vicente headland near Sagres in Portugal. Here, in southern Portugal, we found Europe's most south-westerly point. The sea crashes into 75-metre-high cliffs, and one of Europe's most powerful lighthouses sends its light signals across the Atlantic. We also visited the nearby Ponta de Sagres headland. Today we rolled the campervan to the beach in Galé on the outskirts of Albufeira, here in the south of Portugal. We haven't exercised for ages, so today was the day! We went jogging on the beach and did some occasional exercises from our usual training programme. It's good to be up and running again! Then it was tuna salad on the beach and a few lazy hours in the sun.

Picos de Europa is a multi-mountain national park in northern Spain, located just off the coast between Santander and Gijón. The road in from the coast heads uphill, passing charming villages, small hotels and restaurants and pastures with cows, horses, sheep and goats. The mountains rise dizzyingly high into the sky and this must be a great place to wander on a hot summer's day.

Today the sun is shining on Gran camping Zarautz in Spain. We took a walk down to the beach in the morning. There are a lot of steps down the mountain where the campsite is located - and then as many steps up! We are on the Silver Coast in France. The entire west coast of France from the Gironde estuary to Bayonne is called La Côte d'Argent - the Silver Coast. This is one long sandy beach with shifting dunes and tree plantings to slow down the spread of the sand. We've spent the night in a huge pitch among the trees in Biscarosse-Plage.
