We rebuilt our houseboat last summer. We repainted the hull, changed all the panelling, all the windows and doors and all the roof. But the biggest change was that we rebuilt the entire living room, which is the top part of the boat.

Houseboat stability test - how it went

You may recall that we decided to do a stability test of the houseboat after the remodelling? But I think we forgot to tell you about the results ... It was a proper test that started when the boat was on land. A number of guys came here with measurement equipment, scanned the boat with a laser and got the two million measuring points, which was then entered into a computer programme.

Windows with privacy protection

We have a large window in the bathroom with a nice view of the water - but of course it has also been just as good a view. in in the bathroom. So far we've used a curtain, but that's a bit boring. Now Peter has put up solar film on the windows, which he bought at Mekonomen and which is usually used for car windows.

Now we are almost done with the renovation of the houseboat and the launching into the water is fast approaching. One last step, which we wanted to do before launching, is to test the stability of the houseboat. We simply have to do a stability test on the boat!

Stairs in the houseboat

When you enter the houseboat, you enter the kitchen almost immediately. Then there are stairs down to the bedroom, and stairs up to the living room. Both staircases were previously very narrow, and the ceilings were low. In other words, you had to try to fold yourself double and pull your stomach in - at the same time. Not super practical!

The new living room

Now the new living room in the houseboat is ready! It has been a lot of work with all the details, but now it is also ready. Lamps, mouldings and ventilation are in place. Peter has also fixed a small computer table and put up roller blinds. And the stove is in place, but I think you have seen it before.
